Style of work
Ma Huixian's painting style is clear and elegant, inheriting his father, Mr. Wanli's small writing style of elegance and vulgarity*** appreciation. His works are mostly flowers, birds, grasses, trees, beasts, insects and fish, in particular, wisteria, flowers, grapes, ladies' subjects are the most. "His works are clean in ink and elegant in color, in the style of his father." --Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Government Counselor's Office
The quality of Ms. Ma Huixian's works is a reflection of her personal cultivation and mentality in the world: pure, clean and elegant, and free from vulgarity. Her painting style inherits Mr. Ma Wanli's style of work and writing, which not only pays attention to the precision of object modeling, but also strives to highlight the layers and effects of ink and brushwork. However, she also has her own understanding of small writing: compared with the old and ancient and heavy in Mr. Ma Wanli's works, Ms. Ma Huixian integrates the unique delicate and gentle touch of women into her paintings, which makes her works more vivid and full, elegant and gorgeous; her line walking is very deep, which is attributed to the painstaking study of famous masterpieces in her adolescence. Her rough life experience also has an impact on the style of her works, and she casts her tough character into the picture, and her strokes are all in one go without any procrastination.
Birds, animals, insects and fish, flowers, fruits and trees, as well as ladies, are all subjects in which Ms. Ma Huixian excels, so there is no single type of work. This shows the comprehensiveness of Ms. Ma's subject matter and the diversity of her works.
Artistic Evaluation
Qian Xiaoshan, son of Mr. Qian Zhenhuang, a great Confucian scholar from Jiangnan, former vice chairman of the Changzhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference in Jiangsu Province, and advisor to the Chinese Society of Poetry, once gave a poem to Ms. Ma Huixian, "It is the time for the sun to shine in the south of the Yangtze River, and the paintings are new on her return from thousands of miles away. Leave the clean air in the Qiankun, a colorful brush has a heir." The meaning is to praise Ma Huixian painting to inherit the family school of origin, not in vain Mr. Ma Wanli a lifetime of art world reputation. (Note: Mr. Ma Wanli was the favorite student of Mr. Qian Zhenhuang (famous mountain).)
Famous poet and calligrapher Yu Yifu also wrote a poem as a gift: "Xiaoshan inscription Huixian painting, art garden _ spring rhyme thing new. The spirit of Yanghu in the end of ancient times, the article painting is always amazing."
Frosty sideburns, slightly curved spine, simple clothing, eyes contain calm, face written on the vicissitudes of life, this is the Guangxi Cultural and Historical Research Museum, painter Ms. Ma Huixian.
Ma was born in Changzhou, a place of great wealth and talent, lost his mother at the age of three, and followed his father, Mr. Ma Wanli, in the north and south of the Yangtze River since childhood. Mr. Ma Wanli was a master of calligraphy and painting, famous in Ningxia and Shanghai, and renowned at home and abroad. Mr. Ma has been exposed to the art of painting and calligraphy, and it is only natural for her to use the brush and study ink. She was good at painting flowers and ladies, and she was very devoted to painting the Goddess of Mercy, so she was also known as Buddha Hui.
Giftedness is indispensable to those who study. However, Ma firmly believed that "diligence makes up for clumsiness". From the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the early 1950s, Ma studied at Guilin Academy of Fine Arts, Xijiang College of Arts and Science and Central Academy of Fine Arts. Her artistic achievements not only benefited from her family's legacy, but also relied on decades of perseverance, diligent study and hard work.
Ma was a publicity officer at the Xuanwu District Cultural Center in Beijing, responsible for organizing exhibitions and tutoring mass cultural activities for 12 years; an artisan at the Yong Theatre in Nanning City for 8 years; and engaged in art design at the Nanning Arts and Crafts Factory for 12 years. In the long years, Ma experienced the ups and downs, tasted all kinds of hardships, and suffered the tragic loss of her partner and fellow artists in the Cultural Revolution. In the face of misfortune and suffering, she sought solace for her soul from the tireless pursuit of art, and used a calm and serene state of mind to perceive life, and continued to raise the sails of life with love and perseverance.
Ma's clothes were not heavy, and she did not ask for much in the way of material things. She was a man of faith, a man of goodwill, a man of sincerity, a man who seldom argued with others. Ma's attitude towards creation was meticulous: while striving to make her works reach the realm of fine ink and fine brushwork and vivid colors, she demanded that the picture be neat and clean, never dragging her feet and randomly applying paint; whenever she painted, she used fresh paint and ink, and discarded dirty or dried paint and ink; after painting, she also was sure to wash the painting utensils clean so that they could be used again the next time. I'm sure you'll be able to use them again next time.
Ma's works have been published in magazines and journals such as Art World, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Newspaper, Jiangsu Painting Journal, Guangxi Daily, etc., and have been exhibited and honored dozens of times at home and abroad, and have been exported to Japan, the United States, Australia, Singapore and other countries. Ma's works, although there is no lack of praise from everyone, celebrities, but she has always been calm and relaxed, not to make a fuss, not to reserve their ability, neither book beauty, more not to hide the evil.
Due to the war before the liberation and the ten-year turmoil of the Cultural Revolution, Ma's early works were basically lost and scattered, and the vast majority of the works that have been collected into a book today were created after the Cultural Revolution. Although "Huixian painting exhibition" is only a small flower in the garden of culture, but it shows the fruits of Ma's labor over the years, is her understanding of beauty, but also the display of her beautiful feelings, as the so-called "paintings are like their own people". 2008 spring, Ma will be eighty years old, in his eighties, to be able to dedicate to the readers in the oldest age of the spirit of health, Ma is y gratified. Ma is y gratified.
"There is no such thing as a late night, the red sun is still full of sky". In the great practice of promoting the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and building the advanced socialist culture, we sincerely wish that Ma Lao will stay young in art forever, and continue to depict harmony, and beauty, and concord with bright colors and wonderful lines!
