Characteristics of Marine Coatings; Technological Requirements of Marine Coatings

Ship coating is a kind of coating applied to ship surface decoration. It has a certain waterproof effect and can make the ship walk on the water without rusting. What are the characteristics of ship painting? Some people don't know the decorative effect of this paint after buying it. Let's take a look at the technical requirements of the coating.

I. Characteristics of Marine Coatings

1, with good adhesion, good water resistance, chemical resistance and wear resistance, and excellent performance. Anti-corrosion coatings for ships can be used in harsh conditions and have a long-term anti-corrosion life. Fuxi anticorrosive paint can generally be used for more than 10 years or 15 years in chemical atmosphere and marine environment, and can be used for more than 5 years even in acid, alkali, salt and solvent media at a certain temperature.

2. Good quality, reasonable film thickness and reasonable price are important signs of ship anticorrosive paint.

3. The ship paint has strong adhesion: the coating has strong adhesion to the substrate.

4. The invention is efficient, convenient and simple in construction.

Second, the ship painting process requirements

The deck, inside and outside the bulwark, outside the deck, outside the hull and above the rudder blade steel plate of the engine room shall be sprayed. Hand welds, fillet welds, the back and free edges of profiles shall be pre-coated before painting. Other parts are painted by brush and roller. Construction shall be carried out in strict accordance with the paint brand, coating number and dry film thickness list of each part of the hull. Painting must be carried out after the painted surface is cleaned to meet the requirements, inspected by professionals and approved by the owner's representative. The type of painting tools should be suitable for the selected pigments. When using other paints, the whole set of tools should be thoroughly cleaned. When the last coating is applied, the surface of the previous coating should be kept clean and dry, and the drying time is usually not less than the shortest coating interval specified by the manufacturer. In order to reduce the workload of secondary surface cleaning, all welds, cuts, free edges (free edges require chamfering) and burned parts (excluding watertight test welding) of initiating explosive device should be cleaned immediately after welding and cutting, and the corresponding shop primer should be painted. For parts with high requirements for surface aesthetics, defects such as sagging and accumulation of coating should be avoided.

Third, the selection skills of ship coatings

The selected marine coatings must meet the specified technical conditions, and the unqualified coatings cannot be constructed.

Before opening the can, check whether the variety, brand, color and shelf life of the paint meet the use requirements and whether the thinner matches. Once the can is opened, use it immediately.

After the paint is opened, it should be fully stirred evenly. The curing agent should be added to the epoxy paint, and it should be fully stirred, and the stirring time should be paid attention to before construction.

During construction, if it is necessary to dilute the paint, a suitable thinner should be added according to the instructions of the paint manufacturer, and the addition amount should generally not exceed 5% of the paint amount.

The characteristics of marine coatings are as above. Buy ship coatings because there is demand, and its characteristics are also one of the requirements people choose. The technical requirements of marine coatings are as above. If you don't know how to use the ship coating after purchase, you can give it to professionals, which will be different from the requirements of ordinary ship coatings.
