What is the social status of women in Confucianism

It refers to that in Confucianism, women have a relatively low social status and are considered to be inherently inferior to men. Women are defined as the "weak and submissive" gender.

In traditional Confucianism, women's value mainly comes from inheritance and continuation as wives, mothers and daughters. Their role is to obey men's requirements in the family and maintain family harmony by educating their children.

Although Confucianism as a whole has a relatively low social status for women, Confucian classics also contain some relatively positive theories and expressions about women's status. For example, "Book of Rites: Female Marriage" emphasizes women's right to vote and autonomy in marriage.

Rights, and the Analects of Confucius has also spoken highly of women, such as "The Analects of Confucius Shuer" and "Yong Ye", which reflects the concern and discussion of the status of women by some Confucian scholars.

In modern times, some Confucian scholars have also tried to reinterpret and reconstruct the status and role of women in social life from the Confucian cultural tradition, advocating the realization of gender equality and the transformation of female-centered social values.
