Meng Xiancheng's Academic Contribution
His academic research works are not only rich in materials, but also have scientific opinions. He attached great importance to the study of educational theory and emphasized the deepening of educational practice. In order to study popular education, he personally founded and led Zhejiang experimental school for popular education and conducted various educational experiments.
In terms of educational theory, published monographs include Introduction to Education, General Theory of Education, History of Education, Ancient Western Education, University Education, Popular Education, Historical Materials of Ancient Education in China, Selected Works of Ancient Education in China, etc. Textbooks such as Philosophy of Education, History of Education in China and History of Foreign Education have also been compiled. In addition, many famous western educational works have been translated, such as How We Think (translated as Thinking and Teaching in Chinese) by J Dewey, The Original Theory of Educational Methods by W H kilpatrick (the old translation by Ke Qubo), The General Idea of Educational Philosophy by B H Bode, Modern Pedagogy Theory, Discrimination of Educational Psychology and other monographs.
