Son of the Demon Fox Japan's number one yin and yang master - Abe Haruaki really exists? And what is a yin-yang liao?
Recently, it seems that my buddies around me went to the movie theater to see the movie "Haruya Gathering", but I heard the aftermath of the movie from their mouths is nothing more than: the actors are so handsome! The special effects are awesome! The landscapes are so beautiful! The clothes of the characters in the movie are so gorgeous!
I asked them who Haruaki was in the movie. And who is Genpouya? The guys were all silent, feeling that this movie is enough for the eyes, and that the plot is irrelevant.
So I'm going to take this opportunity to talk to you about Haruaki, the Japanese Taoist priest from 1000 years ago.
A lot of information is sworn to say that the Japanese yin and yang master is originated in our country in the Tang Dynasty period, Japan sent a large number of scholars to China, to learn a lot of advanced culture in our country, of course, which also includes some of China's Taoist thinking and yin and yang things, after this they will be these ideas in Japan to transform and integration, and ultimately formed a set of yin and yang theory of the art.
In my query, I think this is a very bad timing.
The academic theories of the Japanese yin-yang masters did originate from the Chinese "yin-yang and five elements" thought, but the time of transmission than the Tang Dynasty 300 years earlier, that is, the 6th century AD has been introduced to Japan.
The Japanese royal family did not want the people to be able to use the art of divination, so Emperor Tenmu established the Yin-Yang Laos organization in the 4th year of Emperor Tenmu's reign (675), and the Yin-Yang Masters organization that guarded the royal family of Japan was formally established, and the Yin-Yang Laos organization was not abolished until 1870 during the Meiji period, when the 1,200 year-long organization finally came to an end.
Its main purpose was to perform divination, stargazing, exorcism, develop royal rituals, and preside over large-scale national festivals for the royal family, which is actually very similar to our country's Tai Shi Bureau during the Tang Dynasty.
So we are in a lot of movies and TV shows and games about yin and yang masters, yin and yang masters will be like our Taoist priests in general, pinch the knuckles, recite incantations, draw talismans, and generally "urgent as a lawful order" as the end of the incantation.
This is all influenced by our culture.
The Yin-Yang Liu is divided into four disciplines, each with a leader, which are the Yin-Yang Dao, the Astronomical Dao, the Calendar Dao, and the Leakage and Engraving Dao.
They are in charge of divination, astronomy, calendar, and time, and Haruaki, our hero today, is the master of astronomy.
But it's not that you're a yin and yang master if you're in the yin and yang liao, according to the yin and yang liao's staffing records, yin and yang masters are independent of the four branches of the yin and yang liao, and the yin and yang liao is generally configured with six yin and yang masters, who work in the yin and yang liao organization, but are independent of the four major branches.
These are the four main branches of the organization.
It's like an attack team, where the 6 yin yang masters are in charge of the attack, while the others are in charge of logistics and ammunition delivery.
Haruaki's full name is Abe Haruaki, and although his birth and death years are not very uniform, the approximate years are from February 21, 921 AD to September 26, 1005 AD, and he is a yin and yang master active in the Heian period in Japan.
His father was an official in the category of Daizen Daidai, or Royal Governor.
According to the Katsushika Monogatari, his mother was said to be a white fox named Katsushika, which is why people at the time called Haruaki the White Fox Prince.
But it was not until he was 40 years old that he started working as a Tendo Karma student in the yin-yang lounge.
This is also the source of the dramatic portrayal of Haruaki that we see today, such as the demon slaying, helping old grannies cross the street, and various friendships with Genpouya, the descendant of a serious royal family, and so on, most of the good story legends happened before he was 40 years old.
Haruaki's experience before 40 years old has not been recorded in any official history, is it because there is nothing to record? Is it because there is nothing to record?
After Haruaki entered the Yin-Yang Liu organization, he could be described as a hanged man.
Its official position into the yin and yang liao is get industry students , similar to our internship today, but it is such a small trainee do not know by what kind of charm, and immediately became a big red in the imperial relatives, and even its experience of the three emperor's turnover, have not been half a point of the "loss of favor". "
This is the first time I've ever seen a woman in the world.
Although Haruaki was only a trainee, he was promoted to yin yang liao as a yin yang master in his second year of service because of his excellent completion of Emperor Yuanrong's Making Spirit Swords task.
Here's a little brain teaser: with only six yin-yang master seats on the yin-yang liao, why would there be an empty seat after this mission?
So could it be that this mission was so treacherous that it led to one of the Yin-Yang masters being killed, and Haruaki's display of extraordinary strength through this mission is what took him straight from being an intern to a frontline combatant in need of superhuman strength?
Although the Yin-Yang division itself is independent of the four branches, after this, the Royal Family gave Haruaki the reins of the Astronomy Doctrine agency - ordering him to double as a Doctor of Astronomy.
It seems that Haruaki had reached the pinnacle of his position in the Yin-Yang Liao, but at the age of 66, he suddenly retired from the Yin-Yang Liao.
However, it seems that the royal family still trusted him, and then "rehired" him back, granting him the highest title of yin and yang masters - the first head of the yin and yang Taoist hierarchy, and becoming the personal advisor to the Emperor of Japan at the time.
No one is a fool, let alone those who have read the aristocracy, why would they favor Haruaki so much? If we exclude the possibility of whether or not Haruaki is a magus, if he really has some skills, what are they?
From the more rigorous historical records like the Nihon Shoki, we can see that Haruaki performed many demonic exorcisms for imperial ministers, sealed the Tengu at the behest of the Emperor, predicted the abdication of Emperor Hanayama, and begged for rain, among other things.
In Japanese popular rumor, Haruaki's greatest ability was to manipulate the gods.
Legend has it that Haruaki would sign a contract with a demon, and then drive these contracted demons to fight or clean for himself ......
But this is also mostly a result of various Japanese legends and the artistry of our country's hard-working fiction writers, such as Haruaki's Twelve Warriors, the Vermilion Bird and the Xuanwu, and so forth. ...... Listening to the name, I can tell that this is obviously a novel adaptation and not enough to be trusted.
So what can we believe about Haruaki?
Haruaki Kustoma Seal
First of all, let's see what is Haruaki Seal
According to the record, this Haruaki Seal is not only Haruaki every exorcism must be appeared in the rune mark and also Haruaki's family emblem, and so far can be seen in the Shrine of Haruaki.
In fact, it is also the pentagram that we see today. The pentagram has appeared in various places on the earth, and most of them are used to exorcise demons, which we will talk about later.
"A Brief Decision on Divination"
This is a book on divination, and it is the only one of Haruaki's writings that has been handed down to us, summarizing Abe Haruaki's thoughts on divination, and it is now preserved in the library of the University of Tokyo.
Without going into too much gibberish, Haruaki's place in Japanese metaphysical culture is a testament to his greatness.
In the next installment, we'll talk about Haruaki's good "brother", demon hunter and super rich guy, Minamoto no Hiroshi.
