Tourism Culture of Shaxi Ancient Town in Taicang
Shaxi ancient town is rich in historical and cultural relics, with unique waterfront buildings, deep and ancient alleys, antique ancient bridges and former residences of historical and cultural celebrities in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Qipu River, dug in Song Dynasty, runs through the whole town, with wide river surface and criss-crossing islands, which is a major feature of Jiangnan ancient town. The ancient houses on both sides of the river are strewn at random and row upon row. The street along the river stretches for 1.5 km, telling the prosperity of Shaxi's commerce and trade in the past. There are three ancient stone arch bridges on the river (all of which are cultural relics protection units in Taicang City), namely: Li Ji Bridge and Anqiao; Yixing Bridge has a typical architectural style of Qing Dynasty. Shaxi is also a place where people gather. China's outstanding master dancer Wu Xiaobang was born here. He skillfully integrated dance with life and became one of the pioneers of new dance art in China. Combined with the traditional culture of the ancient town, Shaxi has carefully built a poetry pavilion, a textile promotion pavilion, a dance pavilion, a children's interest pavilion and other attractions, so that tourists can not only have fun, but also learn some knowledge and culture.
