What is ecological infrastructure?

Ecological infrastructure is a natural environment system, which provides many important ecological services through natural ecological processes, such as water conservation, flood control, soil conservation, climate regulation and biodiversity protection. It is different from the traditional artificial infrastructure, which is the physical facilities built by human beings, such as roads, bridges, buildings and reservoirs. Ecological infrastructure refers to the use of natural ecosystems and biodiversity to provide services and resources needed by human society. Ecological infrastructure includes rivers, lakes, wetlands, beaches, seagrass beds, forests, grasslands, coral reefs and marine ecosystems. The purpose of ecological infrastructure is to improve the ecological benefits of human society, reduce environmental pressure and realize sustainable development.
