Tibetan Festival: Snow Festival (a traditional festival in China)
At the end of June and the beginning of July every year, the Tibetan calendar is a traditional Snowdon Festival. In Tibetan, "snow" means sour, and "rice" means "eating" and "feasting". According to the Tibetan explanation, the Sutton Festival is a sour festival, so it is also called "Yogurt Festival". Some people call it "Tibetan Opera Festival" and "Buddha Exhibition Festival" because there is a grand and enthusiastic Tibetan opera performance and a grand Buddha drying ceremony during the Xuedun Festival. The traditional Xuedun Festival begins with the exhibition of Buddha, with Tibetan opera performances and people's garden visits as the main contents, as well as wonderful yak races and equestrian performances.
The center of the festival is Norbulingka in the western suburbs of * * *. It used to be the summer garden of the local political and religious leader Lama. When the festival comes, colorful tent cities will appear in Norbulingka and the surrounding Woods overnight, and several busy festival streets will also be formed. Almost the whole city of * * * has moved into this green world, and all people live a wild life in singing and dancing. Deep and warm singing, spread in the shadows with plateau-specific musical instruments. This is the most energetic day for people.
The Origin of the Snowdon Festival
Sutton Festival originated in the middle of the 0 th century AD 165438, which was a purely religious activity at that time. According to folklore, there are more than 300 Buddhist commandments, and killing is the most taboo. In summer, the weather gets warmer, plants grow, insects are frightened and everything recovers. During this period, when monks go out, it is inevitable to trample on life and violate the commandment of "not killing". Therefore, it is stipulated in the precepts of the Gelug Sect that from April to June in the Tibetan calendar, lamas can only stay in monasteries and retreat behind closed doors, which is called "elegant music", which means "staying in summer" and can not be lifted until the end of June. As soon as the ban was lifted, the monks went out of the temple and went down the mountain. In order to entertain monks, ordinary people prepare yogurt, hold picnics for them, and perform Tibetan operas at celebrations. This is the origin of the Snowdon Festival.
History of the Snowdon Festival

Some laughed and drank, some sang and danced, and many literary and art groups also performed folk songs and dances to entertain.
