Russian University in Beijing and Shanghai University part of the faculty and students merged), also known as the National Second Sun Yat-sen University, the country's four major centralized state universities - one of the four Sun Yat-sen University, and from then on began the gradual transformation from a specialized university to a comprehensive university. As the crystallization of the first cooperation between the two parties, the school time is short, but for China's education reform provides an intentional reference.

National Sun Yat-sen University:

National University of Nanjing: Nanjing University

In 1888, the Church University Huiwen College (Nanking University) was founded in Nanjing.

In 1912, the school was stopped due to the war. The school lasted nearly 10 years, graduating about 2,000 students. Among them, there are many famous scientists Bingzhi, Zhou Ren; national masters Hu Xiaoshi, Liu Yi Hui, Chen Zhongfan; art Lu Fengzi, Zhang Daqian and so on.

In August 1914, the principals of Jiangsu provincial schools jointly requested the "establishment of a higher teacher training school" at Liangjiang Normal School. Jiangsu Province, the governor of Korea Jun approved: "check Nanjing Normal School, last year, stacked by the Ministry of the text, allowed on the two rivers Normal School school building to set up." In 1915, the then Beiyang government industrial chief and the national water conservancy bureau president Zhang Jian in nanjing founded river and sea process specialized school, under the national water conservancy bureau. 1915 March 15 officially opened. Is the first after the Xinhai Revolution enrollment courses of higher education. The first principal: Xu Zhaonan.

In September 1915, Nanjing Higher Normal School officially opened (hereinafter referred to as "South Higher Division"). With the approval of the Beiyang government, the former Secretary of the Department of Education of Jiangsu Province, Mr. Changjiang Qian, was appointed as the principal.

In 1921, Zhang Jian, Cai Yuanpei, Guo Bingwen and other 10 people jointly petitioned to create the National Southeast University on the basis of the South Higher Education Division. There were 23 departments, integrating arts and sciences, teacher training, agriculture and industry, and commerce. The number of disciplines is the largest in the country, and there are countless scholars who have studied both Chinese and Western disciplines, such as Dr. Hu Gangfu in Physics, Zhu Kezhen in Meteorology, Xiong Qinglai in Mathematics, Tao Xingzhi in Education, and Mao Yisheng in Bridges, and so on.

In 1923, the South Higher Education Department was formally incorporated into the National Southeast University. At this time, Southeast counted 200 faculty members, 1600 students, more than 400,000 dollars.

In 1924, Southeast University decided to stop running the engineering department, which was incorporated into the River and Sea Engineering Specialized School, renamed River and Sea Engineering University, still under the National Water Resources Bureau, the first president: Mao Yisheng.

In 1927, the Nanjing national government implemented the large school district system, the country set up four Zhongshan University. National Southeast University merged with other colleges and universities to establish the Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, and Hohai University of Technology was organized into the Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering.

In February 1928, the Fourth Sun Yat-sen University was renamed Jiangsu University; in April it was named National Central University. National Fifth Sun Yat-sen University:

National Henan University:

Following in the footsteps of the Peking University Hall of modern university promiscuity, Henan University Hall was born in 1902 in Kaifeng, the capital of the province, but this university did not develop. Ten years later, in 1912, a group of Henan aspirants modeled on the Tsinghua Preparatory School for Study in the United States and established the Henan Preparatory School for Study in Europe and the United States, which is a rare school in the country, as well as the predecessor of the University of Transportation, the Nanyang Public School. In the poverty-stricken and weak inland central plains, Henan Preparatory School for European and American Studies has a far-sighted vision, ambitious, advanced teaching, and trained Zhao Jiuzhang (the father of China's satellites), Yang Tingbao (architect), Yan Zhenxing (water conservancy master), Zhang Bo sound (geography giants) and so on, and sent a lot of students to Europe and the United States to further their studies, and most of these people became pillars of the later.

Next, the rise of universities, Tsinghua also set up a university department. Henan needs a university, Henan study in Europe and the United States preparatory school changed to Zhongzhou University, the time is 1923. Yang Bo Feng Youlan served as director of Arts and Sciences, and Cao Liqing, a returnee from the sea, served as director of Science. However, Li Jingzhai, the former president of the university who was also a foreign doctor, had been advocating the conversion of the Preparatory School for Study in Europe and America into an industrial school and resigned from the university to make his will clear. The two paths were clear-cut, with the philosopher Feng Youlan focusing on the long term and favoring liberal arts education to improve the quality of the nation, while Li Jingzhai was of the opinion that engineering should be developed at that stage to promote industrialization. Which is right and which is wrong? It is difficult to judge. But if the implementation of the school according to Li Jingzhai's idea of the main focus on engineering, then in 1952 the faculty restructuring, Henan University will be like Zhejiang University, Hunan University, as changed into the College of Engineering, rather than with Shanxi University into a teacher training college.

In the 1930s and 1940s HNU had dozens of returnee PhDs, which would still be competitive today, sixty years later. Dr. Wang Mingqi, a biology doctor, became head of the biology department at Fudan University after liberation, Yan Kai, a water conservancy professor, became president of Hohai University, and Dr. Li Junfu, a chemistry doctor, inspired the latter to write The History of Science and Technology in Ancient China in his exchanges with the Englishman Joseph Lee. Many of the presidents of Hohai University, such as Tian Peilin, Deng Zuiying, Liu Jihong, Yao Congwu, Xu Xinwu, Huang Jiyou, etc., are foreign doctors, and these scholars who have been nourished by the modern civilization of Europe and the United States have made Hohai University a very high level.

The rise of HNU, one is to rely on the extension of talent, such as Zhang Zhonglu, Liu Jihong, Zhang Jingwu, etc. are everywhere to invite people. Another is good at business, Henan University from the Ministry of Education and the province to fight for a lot of policies and funding. Yan Zhenxing, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, later became Minister of Education, President Tian Peilin became Executive Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Deng Zuiying also became Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Liu Jihong became President of the Examination Yuan, Yao Congwu became President of the Academia Sinica .... The first is not limited to one style, 26-year-old people can be a professor, no education can be a professor, Henan University has a lot of crooked talent geeks and eccentrics.

Before liberation, the canal in Kaifeng was still open, and there were a lot of teachers and students from outside the province at HNU. In this unsettled era, HNU's scientific research and teaching have made considerable achievements and cultivated a lot of talents. Starting from the Yinxu excavation in the 1920s, the faculty and students of HUE have been an important force in the research of Yinxu and oracle bones, and famous scholars such as Dong Zuobin, Shi Zhangru, Yin Da, Sun Haibo, Guo Baojun, and Zhu Fangpu have emerged. Deng Tuo, a student of the Department of Economics, wrote "The History of China's Salvation" in school, filling a gap. Marco, a chemistry student, composed music in his bed and eventually became a great man of his generation. Medical school into the war in Taierzhuang medical contribution, the College of Arts and Letters appeared in the writers group starry river. Many later celebrities such as Yuan Baohua, Bai Shouyi, Hou Jingru, Wang Shimi, Yao Xueyin, etc. have studied at Heda.

The calm campus life of HNU was always turbulent, with factional fighting, anti-Japanese and anti-riot activities, and frequent underground party activities, and many people embarked on the path of revolution, such as Wang Guoquan, Zhao Yimin, Luo Zhanglong, Wang Yutian, Deng Tuo, and Peng Yun, etc. In 1948, hundreds of teachers and students from the left wing of HNU defected to the Central Plains liberation zone under the leadership of Fan Wenlan, JI Wenfu, and Wang Yizai, and Chen Yi established the Central Plains Liberation Zone on its basis. Chen Yi established Central Plains University on its basis, with Fan Wenlan as its president. Central Plains University moved to Wuhan with the Central Plains Bureau of the C*** in 1949, and later developed into the Central South University of Finance and Economics and other schools. The headquarters of Henan University was ordered by the Kuomintang to move southward to Taiwan, stopping first in Suzhou, where many people refused to go to Taiwan. This relocation caused a large number of talents to be lost along the way. Due to the European and American colors of HNU, many students and faculty members eventually went to Taiwan. The remaining part returned to Kaifeng after liberation.

After the founding of the PRC, higher education adopted the Soviet model, which emphasized branching and specialization, compressed universities, and strengthened engineering colleges and teacher training colleges. This is different from the Republic of China according to the British and American model focusing on comprehensive. Henan University School of Medicine, College of Agriculture, respectively, independent schools, Department of Finance and Economics to build the Central and South Finance College, Department of Water Resources to build the Wuhan Water Conservancy Institute, Civil Engineering and Hunan University, Plant Pests and Diseases Department and into the Central China Agricultural College, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and into the Jiangxi Agricultural College. Henan University only remaining arts and sciences, but then did not like Shandong University to retain the status of a comprehensive university, but became a teacher training colleges, the country later only three teacher training colleges in the North, East China, Northeast China is the focus.

The key point of the decline of the University of Henan in the province of the two decision-making mistakes, one is to move the University of Henan University of Science in 1955 to Xinxiang, in Kaifeng to focus on the liberal arts. Very accumulated Henan University College of Science only in exchange for the new plains Teachers College of Arts and Sciences three specialties, also has Nanjing, Suzhou, two teacher training colleges in Jiangsu, there is no mutual transfer of professional concentration to build Arts and Sciences. To Henan's big, should be built separately Henan Normal College, Plain Normal College two schools, rather than only build Henan Normal College Kaifeng Arts, Xinxiang Science two branches. Then the two branches and each walk on one leg. The province's pettiness so that only the remaining liberal arts Kaifeng River University later could not be selected for the successive national key universities, which appeared in the large province of Henan for a long time without the situation of the national key colleges and universities.

Secondly, the provincial capital moved to Zhengzhou has not been taken away from the original River University Arts and Sciences. But took away the original Heida Medical School, College of Agriculture, and later took away the Heida Department of Chemistry to establish the Henan Institute of Chemical Technology (one of the predecessors of Zhengzhou University of Technology). And Anhui, Guangxi moved the capital of the province took away the highest academic institutions. Therefore, when the six regions abolished, the provinces rise comprehensive university, Shanxi Normal College, Anhui Normal College (formerly Anhui University) soon merged with the newly established Shanxi University, Anhui University, restored the old Shanxi University, Anhui University. On the other hand, Henan Normal College stayed in Kaifeng and could not merge with the newly established Zhengzhou University to restore the old Henan University. Due to the policy restriction of one comprehensive university in one province, HNU was delayed until 1984, more than twenty years later, before it was able to regain its name, but it remained as a teacher training college. For a long time, it did not focus on scientific research, and the employment of students was mostly limited to secondary school teachers, which seriously affected the development of HNU. We can see the huge gap between Shandong University, which moved to the provincial capital, and Henan University, which did not move to the provincial capital. Henan University is not in the capital of the province and is a teacher training college, the province rightly want to pay attention to Zhengzhou University.

It is worth mentioning that, from the evolution of Henan University Hall Kaifeng Teachers College in the 1960s into the only remaining four faculties of arts Kaifeng Teachers College (Henan University), so that once again become the University of arts and sciences colleges and universities, and began a difficult course of revival of the sciences. Xinxiang Teachers' College also gradually built up its liberal arts department, and it was no longer possible for the science department in Xinxiang to return to Kaifeng. In this way, the three major leaders of the left-wing River University Fan Wenlan, JI Wenfu, Li Junfu went to Wuhan Central Plains University, Zhengzhou University, Xinxiang Teachers College, respectively, to be the president.

Under the support of the provincial master Feng Yuxiang, Zhongzhou University developed very quickly, merged the agricultural school, law and politics school, and became a comprehensive university, and got the hat of the National Fifth Zhongshan University, maybe this fifth Zhongshan and the second Zhongshan Wuhan University, the third Zhongshan Zhejiang University, and the fourth Zhongshan Nanjing University there is still a gap, but it is not mediocre people indiscriminately. Like Zhejiang University, the River University also rose majestically during the war.

Zhongzhou University was later renamed Henan University, because the old Henan University Hall became a secondary school. 1928, Henan University established a medical school, and the already existing arts, science, law, agriculture, and for the five hospitals. Henan University began to plumb the depths of the school, and the buildings of the school still signify the grandeur and class of the time. These buildings are comparable to the Central University (now the campus of Southeast University), Jinling University (now the campus of Nanjing University), ranking among the top in China. The grand auditorium cost 200,000 yang, imported from Germany roof frame, can accommodate 3,000 people, and at that time only five hundred students and teachers of the University. Lent Building, Building No. 6, Building No. 7 is unique and marvelous! These buildings are a combination of Chinese and Western walls, scientific and beautiful, and are still the pride of the University. At that time, the campus was surrounded by the Ming City Wall in the east, the river in the west, the iron tower in the north, and the big lake in the south, which created an atmosphere of tranquility and elegance. Unfortunately, it has changed a lot today. Before the liberation of the University has more than 2000 acres of campus, known as the first large school in North China (at that time, Tsinghua has not been expanded to the east), dispersed in Kaifeng City, a number of places. After the liberation, with the independence of the agricultural, industrial and medical schools, only 800 acres of campus remain.

In the thirties, Henan University was already very strong and talented, but it was not until 1942 that it got the chance to be upgraded to the national level. 1944, in the Ministry of Education's evaluation of colleges and universities, HNU won the sixth place in the national national university, a status that is very doubtful today, is it possible? Some people say that Henan University is one of the few Chinese universities on UNESCO's list because the historian of science, Joseph Lee, visited the university during the war, and in 2003, CCTV's "World-famous Universities" chose Henan University as one of the top ten universities in mainland China, which aroused ridicule across the country. Henan University does not disclose a lot of information about its past, but I think it is at least among the top 20 universities in the Republic of China. Its College of Agriculture and College of Medicine were well run, and the College of Medicine was once one of the top five in the country, and was one of the first to receive a doctoral degree after liberation. The Faculty of Letters was full of famous writers, including Fan Wenlan, Guo Shaoyu, Jiang Liangfu, Dong Zuobin, Xiao Yishan, Meng Wentong, Chu Tunan, and Gao Heng. The Faculty of Education was shortlisted among the top six in the country and produced a graduate student, Li Bingde. The strength of HBU can also be seen from the numerous courses offered by the Law School in that year.

Why even did not enter the Ministry of Education directly under? The same Henan Medical College was not worse than the Shandong Medical College, Xi'an Medical College, but not like the latter two into the Ministry of Health directly under. The reason is unknown, probably the reform and opening up of the early Henan did not vigorously to the central government to fight, anyway, at that time is a planned economy, the distribution of the package, the talent will always be divided, regardless of his training in which. If you fight, the central government should take into account the needs of the large province of Henan. Not to mention that Comrade Yaobang is still very concerned about Henan.

Another problem is that at that time, the strength of the country's very front of the University of Chinese, history, geography did not set up a doctoral program, an explanation is that the Ministry of Education has the pressure to focus on doctoral programs to key universities, at that time will not let a local teacher training college to become a doctoral unit, even if you are very strong. The remote Kaifeng River University after decades of the founding of the country, has faded from view. When the River University after repeated concessions, it no longer have the right to speak to fight for treatment, it was once excellent is also questioned.

From the late eighties, talents have to the developed regions to converge, the status of basic arts and science disciplines sink, local institutions encountered policy and funding bottlenecks, the traditional concepts and practices of the interior can not keep up with the development of the times, and so the University of Henan with the decline of Kaifeng and difficult to move forward, the relative status of the substantial decline.

In the face of heavy difficulties, HNU struggled hard, despite its own chronic problems, but once the sea, not willing to sink the noble blood is still alive and well.

After several generations of hard work, the University of mathematics and chemistry has developed, biology, civil engineering has also been rebuilt, economy, law has taken off, medicine, pharmacy from scratch. Henan University has begun its new journey of rise.

On October 17, 2008, Henan University officially became a provincial ministry *** to build colleges and universities, opened the prelude to the construction of high-level universities in Henan University on a new platform.

Song Yue Cang Cang, the river water is great, the culture of the Central Plains is long and long, and the wind and the rain have brought a lot of people to the hall, following the past and the future, and raising the glory of the four suburbs and many bases, and the national hatred is unforgettable, and democracy is the style, and science is allowed to spread, and secondly, the school is always without boundaries.

Taiwan's "National Sun Yat-sen University" (NSYSU)

The National Sun Yat-sen University of Taiwan is a university in Taiwan, and it has been recognized as one of the most important universities of the world. sen University (NSYSU), one of Taiwan's research-oriented "national" universities, was founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Guangzhou in 1924 as the National Guangdong University. After the Kuomintang Group moved to Taiwan, in response to the growing demand for higher education, Chiang Ching-kuo appointed NSYSU to be located in Xiziwan, a famous tourist attraction in Kaohsiung City, the largest city in Southern Taiwan, in July 1980, making it the second comprehensive university to the south of Turbidashi River after National Cheng Kung University, and the first university to be adjacent to an international seaport and MRT station. It is also the first university in the area to be located near an international seaport and a MRT station, and is adjacent to cultural monuments such as the North Gate of Xiongzhen and the former Qing Dynasty British Consulate for Dog Fighting.

The university is now the first in Asia to be ISO 9002 certified and the first in the world to be ISO 14001 certified. In addition to being a major center for teaching and research in marine sciences, the university is also a leader in the academic field of social sciences in south-central Taiwan and has been continuously selected for the "Plan for Developing Internationally Top Universities and Top Research Centers". Sun Yat-sen University has the first AACSB-accredited world-class business school in a national university, and also has three university libraries in Taiwan, together with National Taiwan University and Jiaotong University***, as well as a host library, and has been consistently ranked as one of the top 500 universities in the world by Times Higher Education, with its social science field ranked the second in Taiwan, and its business school ranked among the top 1,000 business schools in the world, and the ESI academic department ranked among the top 1 in the world. It is also ranked second in Taiwan in the field of social sciences, and third in Taiwan in terms of the number of "top 1000 business schools in the world", "top 1% in the world by ESI", and "online academic influence". Because of its longstanding role as an important think tank for Taiwan's industry, government, and academia, a large number of professors and alumni have played key roles in Taiwan's democratization process, and have also produced a significant number of business executives and "parliamentarians".
