How did Genghis Khan manage different regions politically?
Dismounting from his horse to rule the world Genghis Khan faced not only military but also political challenges as he expanded outward. The political challenge was more daunting for a steppe people, but the rulers of the Mongol Empire met it relatively successfully. While expanding into the Central Plains, the South and the West, the Mongols not only actively utilized the technology of the developed regions they conquered, but also appointed a number of Khitans, Han Chinese, Woodlanders, and Huihui (the various ethnic groups practicing Islam in the Arabian region) to participate in the administration, and adopted different methods of rule for different regions.
