Characteristics of China's Traditional Aesthetics
First, intentional thinking, because China's philosophy attaches importance to psychological feelings, is bound to take the subject's emotional consciousness as the main content, which is different from the western view of external things to gain understanding. China's aesthetics is based on the unity of subject and object. The subject does not regard the object as the object of cognition, thus forming an objective, logical or axiomatic observation, but faces the subject itself and experiences it internally. This aesthetic view has the nature of metaphysical thinking in a sense, but it is different from western metaphysics. It is a kind of human metaphysics, without which it exists.
Second, the overall thinking mode. China culture pays more attention to synthesis than analysis, and many concepts are vague. However, this systematic and holistic way of thinking embodies the typical oriental aesthetic wisdom, such as observing the ups and downs of customs and observing the big and the small.
The third is the image. Attaching importance to subjective feelings and objective thinking, based on images, omitting the reasoning process or intuitive or epiphany thinking mode, is enlightening and creative, and avoids the logical thinking mode that is difficult to enjoy beauty because of the pursuit of precision and rigor.
The fourth is intuitive thinking. The west does not exclude intuitive thinking, and there seems to be a point of convergence in this regard. But when we analyze them carefully, we will find that they are fundamentally different. Intuitive experience does not exclude or deny rational thinking, and it is not opposed to rational thinking. Instead, sensibility and rationality interact and complement each other, which is different from the strict distinction between sensibility and rationality in the west.
In a word, aesthetics is endowed with rich oriental characteristics. China people skillfully infiltrate their emotions into it, which makes the emotional color have fresh vitality. It consists of sensibility, rationality and emotion. Compared with other aesthetic categories, it clearly embodies the humanistic aesthetic tendency of China people.
