How to make a traditional kite

1. First, soak the bamboo gabions in water to soften them, then use a knife to break the gabions to about one-third thickness, and then trim the gabions in half, because the gabions have to be pasted onto the mara paper later, if they are too thick, the gabions will be pulled apart from the paper, and if they are too thick, the mara paper won't be able to be pasted properly. The repaired gabions are cut into two lengths, about 16 inches and 23 inches. The next step is to cut the mara paper into a square, about 24 inches long. Mara paper is a very rough paper, which is most suitable for kites.

2. At this point the gabions can be attached to the paper, but remember to tie the long gabion to one of the short thirds with a piece of gauze, and then bend it slowly until the ends of the long gabion touch the diagonal corners of the paper to attach it.

3. The last step is to put the tail of the kite underneath the kite, and then launch the kite when the angle between the line and the kite is better.

4. The tail of the kite is the main tool to balance the kite, when the kite rides on the wind, if one side is heavier, the kite will be biased to this side, and the tail is better to be longer, because the longer it is, the more weight will be on the head of the kite to make the whole body winded, and balanced the oblique side.

5. The kite's silk line can use cowhide line, cotton line, glass line, etc. The line reel can be divided into round line reel and row reel to tie the line on the kite, to make a diagonal angle.
