16949 What is the certification system?
16949 certification system is based on ISO900 1 and has been added to the technical specifications of the automobile industry. This specification is completely consistent with ISO9000/2008, but it pays more attention to defect prevention and reduces the quality fluctuation and waste that are easy to occur in the supply chain of automobile parts.
ISO/TS 16949 standard is very clear in pertinence and applicability, which is only applicable to automobile OEMs and their direct parts production enterprises, that is, these production enterprises must be directly related to automobile production, be able to carry out processing and manufacturing activities, and add value to products through such activities.
At the same time, there are strict restrictions on the qualifications of certification companies and manufacturers. Those units that only have support functions, such as design centers, corporate headquarters, or manufacturers that manufacture equipment and tools for automakers and auto parts factories, cannot be certified.
