Since when did China people become "free to marry"?

Since the founding of New China, China people have had "freedom of marriage".

The ancient marriage system paid attention to "parents' orders and matchmakers' words". The choice of marriage spouse has always been conservative. Under the influence of strict hierarchy and feudal ethics, although this marriage system is reasonable, it does not respect the wishes of the parties and naturally leads to many love tragedies.

Before the founding of New China, "parents' orders and matchmakers' words" can sum up China's view on marriage in history. At that time, free love was rare, so most marriages in China were imprisoned. 1949 after the founding of new China, China people's views on marriage naturally progressed with the opening of ideology, and even changed subversive.

In 1950s, the new marriage completely subverted the traditional concept of marriage: after the founding of New China, polygamy was destroyed.1In April, 950, this new marriage system was formally written into law by the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China. Another highlight of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China is that the law clearly emphasizes freedom of marriage, and no one has the right to arrange marriage.

It can be said that such a new concept of marriage has never been so protected by any regime before China, which also set off the first vigorous revolution of marriage concept in the history of China. Liu Qiaoer is a work of art born under such a concept of marriage. The state led the people to start the awakening process of "the consciousness of freedom of marriage". In order to make the new marriage law widely known, the implementation movement even lasted for three years, during which great achievements were naturally made.

There are many old people around us, and their marriage was born in that era. When everyone doesn't know how to fall in love freely, organized marriage is the most common way. "Young women marry revolutionary heroes" and "marry first and then fall in love" have become the mainstream. At this time, the freedom of marriage was gradually accepted by people, but the freedom of love was not widely recognized. Of course, the so-called "freedom of marriage" includes not only marriage, but also freedom of divorce.

After "boldly pursuing the happiness you want" began to take root in people's hearts, more people bravely ended the tragedy of their arranged marriages, so there was a "divorce tide" across the country. However, in the mid-1950s, divorce applications began to require "just cause", and at this time, it was no longer so easy to dissolve the marriage relationship. But even better, the concept of free marriage has been highly recognized by the whole society under the impetus of the country and the people.
