What is the concept of labor?

The concept of labor is people's fundamental view and viewpoint on labor, including the purpose, value, significance and attitude towards labor. In the past, people thought that labor was only manual labor, but today's labor includes both manual labor and mental labor. The present situation and harm of college students' labor view in the new period

Weak labor consciousness. College students in this period are basically only children, born in the golden age of rapid development of the country, which is the so-called "post-00". During this period, parents pampered their children in every way, hoping that their children would become talents, blindly pursuing top grades and ignoring their various developments. Parents do all the housework, and children only need to study. However, such doting is not conducive to children's physical and mental health, hinders children's development in many aspects, and becomes a learning machine, making it impossible to integrate into society as soon as possible. Schools also attach importance to intellectual education over labor education, blindly pursue enrollment rate and employment rate, and ignore students' own hobbies and all-round development. All these make students' labor consciousness weak, which is not conducive to the healthy and colorful blooming of the motherland flowers.

Utilitarianism of value orientation. Nowadays, the world has become a global village, full of multiculturalism, which makes it difficult for college students to distinguish its essence from its dross. Influenced by western culture, some students have developed hedonism, money worship and extreme individualism. The employment concept of money first makes some students unwilling to participate in voluntary service activities that contribute to society, which is not conducive to the construction of a harmonious society. China advocates that under normal circumstances, individual interests and collective interests are basically the same. When there is a contradiction between individual interests and collective interests, we should insist on putting collective interests first and be willing to give up or sacrifice some individual interests. This is also a long-standing traditional virtue of our country-giving up one's family for everyone, not ignoring others for one's own selfish interests.

Prejudice against division of labor. According to the different scope and complexity of labor, labor is divided into manual labor and mental labor, which are only different in division of labor and value creation, and there is no distinction between high and low. Influenced by traditional ideas, some contemporary college students are biased against manual workers. Most students yearn for superior environment and high-paid mental work, but they are unwilling to work in the northwest region where the old and the young are poor and realize their desire to serve the country. In addition, college students usually live in luxury, advocating high consumption and high quality life, which leads to excessive consumption, serious waste and not cherishing the fruits of labor. In the critical period when the development of China needs to go up a storey still higher, it is urgent to correct college students' wrong concept of labor, so as to better shoulder the important relay of building Socialism with Chinese characteristics and gradually realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese dream.
