What's the difference between geotextile and nonwoven fabric?

The difference between geotextiles and nonwovens;

1, with different properties, geotextile is a water-permeable geosynthetic material made of synthetic fibers by needling or weaving. Nonwovens, also known as nonwovens, are composed of oriented fibers or random fibers. It is called cloth because of its appearance and some properties.

2. Different characteristics, non-woven fabrics are moisture-proof, breathable, flexible, light in weight, rich in color, low in price and recyclable. Geotextiles have high strength, and because of the use of plastic fibers, they can maintain complete strength and elongation under dry and humid conditions.

3. Geotextiles are widely used in geotechnical engineering such as water conservancy, electric power, mines, highways and railways. Non-woven fabrics are suitable for agricultural film, shoemaking, tanning, mattress, quilt, decoration, chemical industry, printing, automobile, building materials, furniture and other industries, sauna and even fashionable gift bags, boutique bags, shopping bags, advertising bags and so on.

Geotextiles mainly have the following three series:

1, needle-punched nonwoven geotextile, the specification is 100g/m2-600g/m2. The main raw material is polyester staple fiber or polypropylene staple fiber, which is made by needle punching. It is mainly used for slope protection of river banks, sea areas and lakes, flood control and emergency rescue projects such as land reclamation, docks and shiplocks, and plays a role in soil and water conservation and pipeline prevention through filtration.

2. Needle-punched nonwoven fabric and PE membrane composite geotextile, with specifications of one fabric and one membrane, and two fabrics and one membrane. The maximum width is 4.2 meters. The main raw material is polyester staple fiber needle-punched nonwovens. PE membrane is compounded, which is mainly used for seepage prevention and is suitable for railway, expressway, tunnel, subway, airport and other projects.

3. Non-woven and woven composite geotextiles, including non-woven and polypropylene filament woven composites, non-woven and plastic woven composites, are suitable for foundation reinforcement and basic engineering facilities for adjusting permeability coefficient.
