It was not until 1978 that a group of students who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts opened the first modern mask shop in Venice that the mask carnival flourished again.

Performing groups traveling all over the world will set up an outdoor stage to provide some interesting performances, such as acrobatics, juggling, and more typically humorous performances. These performances are all based on a certain play, with established roles and rough plot lines, and are called "Note1"Canovaccio.

Occasionally, members of the league will perform directly behind the carriages of their peers, which is more like the characteristics of 2》carro di tespi in Note 2. Canovaccio can be traced back to ancient times (defined as before 476 AD).

The theme of improvisation revolves around the drama of the troupe. The content is some common situations, such as infidelity, jealousy, old age and love.
