How are sows artificially inseminated?
For fresh semen, it should be placed in 36℃ constant temperature water for 10min, and then measured or inseminated. For frozen sperm, there are two pre-treatment methods: one, take out the tube, put it in 70℃ constant temperature water for 35s, then take it out and put it into 36℃ constant temperature water for 2min; take it out and dilute it, then put it in 36℃ water for 10min. this method is more difficult to master, and the result is often unsatisfactory. Secondly, take out the thin tube and put it directly into the constant temperature water of 36℃ for 2min; after dilution, put it into the water of 36℃ for 10min; then it can be measured or inseminated. Fresh semen can be preserved for 5d, while thawed semen can only be preserved for 4h. When frozen semen is used for insemination, the amount of semen should be doubled, and the timing of sow estrus should also be strictly mastered. The estrus period of sows lasts for 3-5d, and sows in estrus have a swollen and reddish pubic door with vaginal secretions, as well as the phenomena of hyperactivity, crawling across other sows and frequent urination. The sows are mated at the right time after estrus, otherwise the effect is poor. During the estrus period, according to the changes of the external genitalia and the pressing reflex of the sow, it can be initially determined whether insemination is possible or not. For further determination, a boar can be used to test the estrus.
Before insemination, rinse the sow's external genitalia with rinsing solution and wipe it with paper. The head of the vas deferens is inserted slightly upward into the vagina of the sow, and the depth of insertion is generally 30cm. insertion of force is appropriate, and rotate and enter. Cut the tip of the plastic bag containing the semen and connect it to the vas deferens with a thin plastic tube. Raise the bag and let the semen flow in naturally. When the semen is more than halfway in, cut open the top of the bag to let in air, so that all the semen flows into the sow's vagina. Rotate the bag appropriately and pull out the vas deferens. It takes about 3min to inseminate 1 sow, and the operation is relatively simple. At an interval of 12h, repeat the insemination 1 time. 25-30d after the insemination, a pregnancy tester can be used to determine whether the sow is fertile or not. The probe is placed on the abdomen of the sow, and the size of the embryo can be seen on the computer screen.
