Couplets are rumored to have originated from Meng Xu, the lord of Shu in the Five Dynasties, and are a part of the traditional culture of the Han Chinese people.
Couplets are developed on the basis of ancient "Peach Symbols" and "Couplets", and are formally called couplets. Couplets originated from the symmetry of Chinese writing and speech, and appeared before the Zhou Dynasty, when the development of paper-making and calligraphy made couplets an independent literary style. Mr. Tan Cicada Xue wrote an article in the fourth issue of 1991 of the Knowledge of Literature and History, pointing out that the earliest Chinese couplets appeared in the Tang Dynasty.
And it is believed that the couplets originated from Meng Xu were spring couplets, i.e., door couplets dedicated to the New Year. However, different historical sources in the Song Dynasty say different things about it, and some say that it was written by Xin Yinxun or Meng Che, the son of Meng Chang.
