Why does modern traditional clothing decline and western clothing rise?

Now the clothes we wear are basically in line with the mainstream of the world. Usually people buy clothes from Han Feng, Europe, America and Japan, but when it comes to Chinese style, everyone has the impression that grandma's red coat is a traditional Chinese costume. It was in the 1920s that modern clothes changed so much.

The decline of traditional costumes is related to cultural movements. China's traditional costume culture has a long history, but in the May 4th period, in order to completely eliminate the shackles brought by feudal culture to people's thoughts and promote the new culture, the academic circles began to lead the new changes in costumes from people's lives. Simple clothes, simple colors, Chinese tunic suits for boys and blue and black skirts for girls seem to be the standard of that era. This simple and plain dress style lasted for a long time in the last century. Exquisite and elegant cheongsam was also popular in the 1920s, but after 1950s, it was labeled as "bourgeois sentiment", so it was no longer popular in Chinese mainland.

We know that the 20th century is of great significance to China, which abolished feudalism, introduced new ideas and established a new China. Great changes have taken place in China in the past 100 years. And the change of traditional clothing, to a certain extent, has also been branded with the times. Exquisite and complicated traditional costumes were no longer suitable for China people at that time. Because of the invasion of war and natural and man-made disasters, the life of Chinese people is unsustainable, food and clothing is still a problem, and there is no energy to pay attention to clothing.

The necessity of dress simplification, the impact of new culture and the ideological propaganda in academic and political circles make the decline of modern traditional dress inevitable. Now it has become a minority country, and now our clothing has basically formed a unified situation, but there are still some people who love traditional culture and are trying to inherit this culture through their own efforts.

I just hope that from now on, no matter in big cities or small towns, everyone will be more open to the diversity of clothes, so that those Hanfu lovers and Lolita lovers don't have to accept different eyes when wearing their favorite clothes.
