Why should velvet copper wire be annealed?

Because the annealed copper wire is softer than ordinary copper wire, it can improve the plasticity and toughness of copper wire and is convenient for molding. Edelweiss is an artificial head flower, with red, pink and pink as the main colors, decorated with yellow-green stamen leaves. It can only be made by hand, dyed with silk into velvet, and then made with steel hooks.

Cashmere is made of silk, and cashmere imitation is mostly made of twist sticks. Ronghua, a typical traditional handicraft with local characteristics in Nanjing, was listed as a royal tribute in the Tang Dynasty. Edelweiss was popular during the reign of Kangxi and Qianlong. Because of its special technology, it can't be produced by machine until now, so it can only be made by hand.

When making velvet flowers, mulberry silk should be boiled in alkali water first, and then the prepared boiled silk should be dyed. The dyed cooked silk should be combed neatly with a brush, and the brushed silk will have more luster and texture. Then, prepare a thin copper wire, fold it in half and heat it on the fire. After the copper wire is softened and annealed, the combed cashmere is clamped and gently twisted at the left and right ends. At this point, wool is tightly fixed by copper wire clips like hair. Next, cut the velvet with long scissors.

One hand hold one end of that copper wire, the other hand twist the other end of the copper wire, and the copper wire instantly twists into a spiral shape. And the velvet sandwiched in the copper wire becomes a velvet strip. After all the velvet strips are completed, you can carry out the process of "sharpening" and use tweezers to shape the velvet strips into various beautiful flowers.
