Who was the ancient kitchen god in China?

Yi Yin, Yi Ya and Peng Zu were all ancient chefs, and they all made great contributions to ancient cooking.

1, Peng Zu

According to legend, during the period of Yao Emperor among the Three Emperors and Five Emperors, the Central Plains was flooded. As the leader of the tribe at that time, Emperor Yao directed water conservancy. Because of his long-term concern for the safety of the tribe and all the people, Emperor Yao became ill from overwork and was ill in bed. Life will be over without water for a few days.

At this critical juncture, Peng Zu immediately cooked a bowl of wild chicken soup according to his own regimen. Before the soup arrived, Emperor Yao smelled the fragrance from a distance, flipped and jumped, his forefinger moved, then gulped it down, and the next day he was radiant. Since then, Emperor Yao has eaten this chicken soup every day. Although he is busy every day, he is not sick. It was a beautiful talk for a while, and it was handed down.

Since then, Yao was named Hou, and later people called him Peng Zu. Peng Zu's The Way of Wild Chicken Soup has gradually developed into The Way of Cooking. Wild chicken soup is the earliest recorded name in China's ancient books and is known as "the best soup in the world".

China Cooking History 9 says that Peng Zu is "the first famous professional chef in China" and "the longest-lived chef" and is regarded as the ancestor of the kitchen industry.

2. Yi Yin

There are not many records of Yi Yin's cooking practices, except that he made a mandarin duck soup (swan soup) when he went to see Shang Tang, which was very popular. However, judging from the soup and even the taste mentioned by Yi Yin in Lu Chunqiu Ben Wei, his cooking theory level is absolutely first-class.

Yi Yin's cooking techniques and theories are unique. Cooking is just one of Yi Yin's many skills. Yi Yin is the holy land of cooking in China. Nowadays, colleagues who cook Chinese food in Chinese mainland, Hongkong, China, Taiwan Province, China and Singapore all regard Yi Yin as the "kitchen saint" and "cooking saint" of China.

3. Elegance

Yiya was the first chef to cook with harmony. He is good at seasoning and cooking. Because he is a chef, a good cook and the first person to open a private restaurant, he is called the founder by the chefs.

Huan Gong once said to Yiya, "It's a pity that I have tasted all the delicious food in the world, but I have never eaten human flesh." Huan Gong's remarks were an unintentional joke, but Yi Ya kept them in mind, bent on showing off his skills in order to win Huan Gong's favor. No matter how noble the monarch is, he must never eat the meat of death row prisoners and civilians. Later, when he saw his four-year-old son, he chose to use his son's meat.

At a luncheon, Huan Gong drank a small golden tripod of fresh and tender broth, never tasted it, and asked Yiya, "What kind of meat is this?" Yiya cried and said that it was her son's meat. In order to pray for the health of the monarch, he killed his son to offer sacrifices to his master. Duke Huan was very uncomfortable when he learned that it was Yiya's son's meat, but he was moved by Yiya's killing his son for his own food. He thought Yiya loved him more than his own flesh and blood, and from then on, Huan Gong favored Yiya.

Extended data

In addition to these three, there are two people who are honored as kitchen gods. One is Xuan Di, the Emperor of the Han Dynasty, who is called "the God of Bakers". The pastry industry must be respected. Liu Xun, Xuan Di, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, reigned from 74 to 49 BC and was the great-grandson of Liu Che, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. During the "Witchcraft Rebellion", Liu Xun fled to the people anonymously.

"Han dynasty history. Xuandi Ji records that Qin Shihuang was troubled by witchcraft when he was young. "He is old and likes to wander around Guanzhong." At that time, Liu Xun didn't know how to make cakes. He just likes to eat cake when he is in trouble. He often goes to the cake shop to buy cakes. The business of this cake shop is so prosperous that even he feels strange. Emperor Zhao died and was founded by General Huo Guang. When he was emperor, the kitchen industry in Guanzhong actually regarded him as the founder. After "painting tactics", the founder of Shenma became famous, and the cake shop used his Shenma.

Cai Taize, a poet in the Song Dynasty, talks about Tiewei Mountain, Volume 6: "Xuan Di, the Emperor Gaozu, has a humble position and sells cakes differently. See Hanshu Xuan Di. Up to now, everyone is thousands of years old, and there are bakers in Guanzhong. Every painting by Xuan Di is like a boss, and it is almost common now. "

The other is the legendary Wang Zhan, who is said to be the royal chef of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty. On one occasion, Emperor Wendi of Sui asked Wang Zhan what was best, and he replied that it was salt. Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty was killed for playing the king. Since then, chefs have been too scared to put salt in their cooking. Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty ate tasteless food, and then came to his senses, so he named the chef Zhan Wang.

As a result, Wang Zhan was the founder of the kitchen industry and was honored as "Wang Zhan the Great". Others say that this Wang Zhan is a tramp named Jim Mouse, not a cook at all. Wendi killed many chefs because the food was not delicious, and no one dared to cook, so he had to post a list of talents, and Zhan Mouse was mistakenly called into the palace.

Wendi asked him, "What is the best?" He said, "Hungry" is the best. Later, he led Wendi out of the city in search of "hunger". Wendi was really hungry, so he took out chopped green onion cakes for Wendi to eat. Emperor Wen of Han realized that food was delicious only when he was hungry, so he named Zhan king of rats. Later, there was the custom of offering sacrifices to King Zhan. Guo Rongzhou's Cuisine Allusions says: Sichuan chefs worship the "Chef Bodhisattva"-Wang Zhan, and there is a temple fair in Wang Zhan on August 17th of the lunar calendar.

According to the record of collecting wind, the annual "Wang Exhibition" was held on August 13th of the lunar calendar, lasting 48 days. Selling vegetables during this period is also a day for chefs to accept apprentices.

The founders of the kitchen industry are not consistent in different times and regions. Lei Zu the Great, Guan Gong, Zhuge Liang and Weng Mei are all founders of the kitchen industry.
