What are the five great beasts in China?
Qinglong 1
Qinglong is one of the four gods in China ancient mythology, which originated from the worship of ancient stars. It is the God of the East, representing Tai Hao and the Seven Nights in the East. It is shocking in the gossip, the main tree in the five elements, symbolizing the shaoyang in the four elephants and the spring in the four seasons.
The origin of the four elephants, such as Qinglong, is very early, and the earliest cultural relics found at present are about 6500 years ago, which is closely related to the primitive worship of the stars by the ancients. 2. Xuanwu
Xuanwu, one of the four heavenly spirits in China's ancient mythology, originated from the worship of ancient stars, which refers to dividing twenty-eight lodges into seven northern Xuanwu lodges according to the southeast and northwest of the four elephants. In the traditional culture of China, the four elephants refer to Qinglong, Baihu, Suzaku and Xuanwu, representing the east, west, north and south directions respectively. Xuanwu in the north is based on gossip, and the five elements dominate the water, symbolizing the old yin in the four elephants and the winter in the four seasons.
3. Suzaku
Suzaku is one of the four spirits in ancient China mythology, which originated from the worship of ancient stars. It is the southern god who represents Emperor Yan and the seven nights in the south. It is separated from the gossip, igniting the fire in the five elements, symbolizing Lao Yang in the four elephants and summer in the four seasons.
In the pre-Qin period, it was thought that it could lead the soul of the dead to heaven, and later generations thought it could give people immortality. The theory of divination flourished in Han dynasty, and its symbolic significance increased, such as reservation, ding bing, ceremony and so on. After the Han Dynasty, Taoism absorbed it as the protector and called it god of light.
4. White tiger
The White Tiger is one of the four gods in China's ancient mythology, which originated from the worship of ancient stars. It is the God of the West, representing seven nights in Shao Hao and the West. It is the main gold in the eight diagrams and five elements, symbolizing that the four elephants lack yin and the four seasons are autumn.
The white tiger symbolizes power and the army, so many places named after the white tiger in ancient times are related to the military, such as the white tiger flag in the ancient army and the white tiger statue on the military symbol.
5. Huanglong
Huanglong is a god beast in ancient myths and legends of China. According to ancient records, both Huangdi and Dayu may be the embodiment of Huanglong. Yuan Ke, a famous mythologist, thinks that Huanglong is Ying Long in the era of the Yellow Emperor, and he has detailed evidence to prove it.
The embodiment of the five elements thought regards Huanglong as one of the five dragons. There is a saying that there are "five spirits" or even four spirits besides the four great beasts. The yellow mud in the middle is Huanglong, which refers to Ying Long.
