Dear new students, good morning to you all!

First of all, on behalf of the school, I would like to extend a warm welcome to more than 3,500 new students from 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country! I would like to thank you for choosing Shangrao Teachers' College, and I would like to thank the teachers and parents who have helped you make your choice. Your choice is a vote of confidence and encouragement! I know that despite the festive printing of the school's acceptance letter, you may not all be joyful when you receive it, and some of you may be a little frustrated because your college entrance examination goals have been discounted. But after all, you came, came to show that not excluded, just like making friends, not excluded is a good start. I believe that, through the next few years of school and students *** with efforts, we will be on the teacher's college from still look up, become affordable, and even very good. The commencement address is a test for the president. Students, from the moment you finish registration, you will officially become a college student. How to live a good college life? Is a major problem you face. As your senior, teacher and principal, I would like to talk about the four words "college life" for students' reference.

First of all, let's talk about "big". "The so-called big scholars, not that there is a building is also called, there are masters is also called." The greatness of the university lies in the cultivation of talents with great knowledge, great understanding, great virtue, and the ability to do great things in the future. The greatness of the university also means more, such as more knowledgeable teachers, more disciplines, more specialties, more resources, more choices, more opportunities, more sources of students, more graduation destinations, etc. Therefore, the university also means more openness and more opportunities. Then talk about "learning". The first is to firmly believe in learning, in the study, the force can not reach or excusable, absent-minded is unforgivable. Be wary of the new theory of the uselessness of reading. Unlike the two theories of the uselessness of studying that appeared in the late Cultural Revolution and the early stage of reform and opening up, it does not deny the usefulness of knowledge, but only believes that studying and going to college is not the only way to acquire knowledge. However, for most people, this kind of organized systematic learning in university is the most rare and effective way to acquire knowledge. Secondly, it is important to have a clear learning goal. Some students say that in secondary school, the only light that seems to be on ahead is the one of getting into college, so you can only walk towards it firmly; after going to college, there are suddenly a lot of lights around you, but you are dizzy and don't know where to go. Each university has its own goal of talent training, in this sense, the school should train students to be the same. However, each student has his or her own career and business expectations, and in that sense, schools should again train students to be different people. It is important to set goals. If the goals are not clear, even if you work hard, you may just be a "busy, blind, and confused" student who is too busy to think. The school will provide all-round guidance on how to determine the stage and long-term goals of learning. Thirdly, learning styles should be transformed. Through the integration of learning styles, the individuality of learning will be promoted. Emphasis on personalized, independent learning is a feature of university education. The university advocates "inquiry-based learning", encourages students to study and think with problems, and organically combines theoretical learning and dealing with practical problems, so as to improve the ability to find problems, study problems and solve problems. Fourthly, we should enrich the content of learning. Today's society does not welcome the knowledge structure is horizontal "a" type and vertical "1" type of university graduates, because they either have a wide range of knowledge but no expertise, or expertise but narrow adaptation. Academic achievement and performance are not the only indicators of a student's performance, but they are certainly the most important ones. Therefore, in almost all of the evaluation process of students, academic achievement and performance are given a lot of weight. So a special tip, it is best not to fail the exams, because it will seriously affect your overall evaluation. But even if you have to fail a test, never cheat on a test, and remember I said never. Failing a class does not necessarily affect graduation and getting a degree, but cheating will result in severe disciplinary action, thus most likely affecting graduation and getting a degree. So please make sure that you study the Student Handbook carefully, and especially find out what you cannot do and what the consequences are for doing it. Be aware that often regret does not change the consequences. The word "raw" also denotes a state of being immature and in need of further cultivation and refinement. Some people compare the university to a talent processing plant, although not very apt, but also quite similar. The difference is that in the university, students are also processors, and they have to take the initiative to participate in the whole process. Therefore, I hope that students and the university will work together so that we can continue to familiarize ourselves with the process, so that we can turn iron into steel and stone into gold. "Raw" also means a change, i.e., growth or development. This is the first time that students go to college, so make the most of it. For those who do not intend to go on to graduate school after graduation, this is the last time they go to college, so they should cherish it. Young college students are the most growth, the university provides a very good environment for growth and rich resources for success, if you do not grasp, cherish, and just take the university as a rough study, then after graduation will be regretted, it is too late to regret. As the saying goes, it is only when there is something to do that there is something to taste, that is to say, the taste of the future memories of college life depends entirely on what is done during the college period.

Finally, I'd like to say "live". "Live" is to read the university with vigor, to read the university with vigor. Vitality is the expression and core of vitality. University as a high-level educational institutions and cultural organizations, vitality is manifested in creativity, development, and the power and ability to continue to develop and innovate, implying the idea of leaping, passionate burning, as well as interactive competition and enterprise. The strength of the students' vitality, determines the size of the overall vitality of the school, the students are strong, the school is strong. A university president said well, the university is a book, the book contains deep philosophy and rich knowledge. This book guides young students on the road of growth, this book creates a good academic atmosphere, it requires young students to study hard, the courage to innovate as the main content of university life, so as to read the book of the university. The university is a poem, a poem of stirring, a poem of spiritedness. It requires students to think more, dare to take responsibility, and then write a good college poem, with a tough character to play the world's rise and fall, the country's prosperity of the melody of life. The university is a painting, a heroic character painting, a sketch of the campus, a quick romantic sketch. Dear students, after the opening ceremony, students will formally start university life, and I hope that students can familiarize themselves with the school as soon as possible. There is one place that I would like to recommend in particular, and that is our library. Go there more often, you will love it. I told my classmates that as long as you are there for reading, not to kill time, the school won't blame you even if you turn the books over there, sit the chairs apart, or use the computers badly. However, if you go to the library as if you were going to get comfortable because of the good conditions and beautiful environment there, then you will be blamed. Because the limited number of seats there is for people who go there for serious reading.

Because of the fear of rain, my speech will end here. I am not looking for a sentence to be a classic, but a few strokes of the pen to punctuate it. The internet has rated the most inspirational, life-affirming, spicy, honest, and pragmatic college presidents' commencement speeches of 2010. If my speech today can be searched by them, I guess it is likely to be named this year's college president commencement speech in the shortest as well as get the least applause, because it is so short that students are too late to applaud more.

College is a refueling station on your life's journey. I hope that students in the road to growth and success, stand a little higher, thicker accumulation, deeper thinking. Because the height determines how far you can look, the thickness determines how long you can run, the depth determines how big you can do.
