Xibe traditional festivals, what are Xibe festivals, Xibe festivals?
Traditional festivals of Xibe nationality include Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day and Dragon Boat Festival. The most distinctive ones are the smear festival and the westward migration festival.
Qingming Festival
Generally, Tomb-Sweeping Day of Xibe nationality is once in the third month of the lunar calendar, but Xibe people in Yili and Tacheng areas of Xinjiang visit their graves twice a year in March and July of the lunar calendar. On festivals, people sacrifice fish and melons respectively, so they are called fish Qingming and melon Qingming respectively.
Defamation Festival
Xibo people have the custom of smearing each other on the 16th day of the first lunar month. Over time, this day has become a traditional "smear festival" of Xibo people.
