How to evaluate Fudan University 2015 new promotional video 'To My Light'
If a mother steals chickens and dogs, and a father speculates, does the son not speak?
To paraphrase Ms. Chai, this article is not about my personal vendetta against Fudan, but about scratching the itch of college education as I have known and experienced it.
A.
First, from the movie itself;
I feel that the texture of the picture is not as good as that of Dongda Explorer, no matter how many K's of the machine you claim to have used to shoot it, the reality is that the tone of the coloring is a bit careless, a moment of DSLR quality, a moment of red plus exaggerated and cheap, a sense of pallor, and it is a bit confusing to the people.
Of course, this is a matter of opinion. Personal style issues. I'm not going to comment on it.
The structure of the film, okay.
But I think that people who have done the film know that this type of video, the spoken word is almost to that meaning, a little bit of false, a little bit of concept, a little bit of arrogance, the ideal pattern of a little bit;
Picture music slightly more fitting, to the atmosphere, the picture is bewildering some;
Halo walk a little bit, the camera moves towards the sun, the bushes (or, more often, the headlights), the screen shake a bit, more orbit around the heroine, close-ups hate to push into the old professor's wrinkles;
better use of light, not too outrageous composition, a bit more post-production ability,
really wouldn't be that bad.
But why is it that we can have the cinematography skills of PPTs like "Small Time" and "Ho Ho Ho Ho",
but not more MV promos like "Lost Walls" and "Chuck and the Fly"?
I think it comes down to not just the copy itself, but the core of a film, what it really wants to say, and whether it fits with its culture.
Other people want to fly, other people want to be pale, it's words, it's really yearning for the sky, or shooting straight from the heart.
But To my Light,
please ask whose Lite are you balding, besides having a Fudan University campus promo to look up to?
The people who produced you, the people who wrote you, the people who acted you, except for a few of those old professors whom I greatly respect, and even those people you want to cover, the people who sent their friends circles praising you, the children of Fudan University, do you really have what you want to say about these, aim with higher?
Even from the comparison with Dongda, why did they put forward this sentence "most of our students reach high places, very high." Some of the comments under @Chen Xiaoshu's answer have been put forward, some of which I think are over-interpreted, but they are also within reasonable limits. It's within reason, and does fit the Tohoku students I know, and my shallow knowledge of Japan.
"That last pun on Tohoku University is actually a clever counterpoint to stereotypes. Because the University of Tokyo has always been regarded as nurturing the elite of traditional celebrities in politics and business, towering over the rest of the world, this promo intentionally goes the other way around by featuring science, engineering, adventure, humanities, and women, and replacing society's "high" with the "high" of the universe, and the line is a terrific finishing touch."
"Dongdaemuni produces prime ministers who can put together several tables of mahjong, and the government's senior bureaucrats are filled with Dongdaemuni graduates. Dongda's high social status no longer requires bullshit, which is why it's a selling point that we have students who can go to really high places. Fudan doesn't have the capital to learn that line."
"In Tohoku University's promotional video, what is wrapped thickly around the body is not only advanced technology, but also the sense of distance that the Japanese maintain in their interactions with others, and the elite's expectations and insularity about themselves. To put it simply, wearing a suit is a way to take pride in being out of place, to walk the cold road without being disturbed, not to do Tai Chi with people, not to make eye contact with professors. So in the end, Eastern University proudly says Most of our students reach high places.VERY HIGH . (while some stupid foreigners follow us all the way and still feel good about it)"
Why a spiritual trait can be spoken of and promoted actually stems from a cultural context.
Like the Yale friends I know who say Lux et Veritas, the quest for light and truth.
Have gone to Harvard JFK School of Politics to hang out and the professors have mentioned that they want people who know how to, ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND CHANGE THE WORLD, CHANGE THE WORLD, and that some people are born to change the world, and that there are some places that were built just to teach them how to act.
You have to at least build on these Motto's, and then think about whether some random soft advertising slogan can be easily dismantled, reconstructed or innovated?
What is Fudan, higher than clouds, talking about? What is your motto, what is your position? What were the original clouds? How much pride do you have over the rainbow? Is it your pettiness, or your free and useless soul?
The specifics will come later, but let's get back to the movie.
The deliberate way of not adding subtitles is questionable, after all, the narrator's English doesn't sound excellent, and the quality of the recording and synthesis is not good, at least it gives me the feeling that the VO and the picture and the connotation are cut off, which very much affects the viewing experience.
In this dimension, I think the subtitles, especially the bilingual subtitles, with the small white font, would be an obvious enhancement, and the pretentiousness would be so good that it would be like dragging a movie from youtube to youku.
Of course, Fudan's this end credits are better than Dongda's, profoundly expressing the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, never forgetting those who have helped us, and leaders, and units. The reverence is overflowing.
In summary, I think it is a quite normal, walk the paradigm type, but in the college and university marketing and publicity, relatively different film. Look down, the title of the seduction of anything quite good, the beginning and end is not extravagant,
But it will certainly make some of the interests related to the students, graduates are ecstatic, the circle of friends desperately forwarded:
"Look, I've been in the Guanghua building bubble girl." "Look, business partners, WeChat game buddies, I'm from Fudan."
Above, everything, without suspicion of plagiarism.
B. The main article
To be honest, I was a little heartbroken when I saw the credits because there were alumni I knew who stayed in school on the creative team.
Now that the main name is attached, it's hard to shrug off the responsibility. And it's laid out clearly that there are some things that will have to be on your backs.
As for such a stupid official response, I can't really find a reason not to laugh at it.
Fudan's new propaganda film was accused of plagiarism, the school: is an independent creation
I think we can find a thousand reasons to wash the ground, the answer to a number of people also washed,
such as what advertising company outsourcing, Fudan side do not know,
In fact, to think of the reasons for too much,
Pressure from the upper echelons of the creativity, the draft resolution late Can not be confirmed, to catch up with the time, can only be rushed to start shooting.
But does it make sense?
I think the fruit of this is not rotting in the final movie, but in the roots where the seeds were planted.
And this root is not the root of whether a video is plagiarized or not, but the root of what is rotten in a pan-cultural sense, in the Chinese context.
Waking up this morning, I saw three invitations to hot issues,
One is Dream Bitch,
One is Xu Zhiyuan,
One is Fudan Plagiarism,
All together, it is, Dream Xu Fuxu, Think Zhidan, Bitch Far Plagiarism.

C. Dream Xu Fu:
Maybe as mentioned, is there any moment that makes everyone feel that floating life is like a dream, a hundred years of snapping fingers? - Answer by Rabbit Bug Chen
Floating life is like a dream, there are big and small realms.
In retrospect, it's funny.
I still remember that I only filled in two volunteers in the college entrance examination, a Peking University and a Fudan University, after all, with the extra points from the math competition, the latter is no problem. The reason why only want to enter these two schools, but also in the premise of not going abroad, determined to study philosophy or sociology and psychology and so on, then still hold a fantasy, what "sun and moonlight, Dan Fudanxi", carrying the desire for excellent university is the key to the country.
Then the high school blog also childishly wrote such words,
"In college my first ideal is to be able to write their own words to their heart's content, unrestrained; ideal two is to be able to have enough time to go to the essence of the philosophers, and discuss with the people, to change the world; what can promote a person's talent? Think more, watch more, read more and walk more. My college life must be rich in experience, and I will still have no choice but to continue my past footsteps in my endeavor to become a generalist. Generalist is not a shallow three-legged cat, it is built on a certain depth of the breadth of the expansion of ......"
Dreams Xu Fu, look back, in that no microblogging, WeChat, the school world, and then now, is it too simple ideal for me, or the world is too fast, how many and my same children, to the university promo, doing the same dream.
If you can't do it, but please don't promise.
D. Thinking about Fudan:
Every year when my circle of friends is screened by the Fudan school festival, it counts as the most disgusting time for me.
What was it like to participate in "Zhihu Salt Club 2014"? - Answer by Rabbit Bug Chen
Almost feels like a borderline.
I don't really like this kind of revelry, even if they are all my classmates, my friends, my seniors, or my wife.
Perhaps it is true that Fudan gave them the life, the status, the wealth, and the value they wanted to be spoken of.
But I've always felt a kind of "hostility", especially when the philosophy school celebrated its distinguished alumni by inviting the richest man in Shanghai and talking to professors about how they skipped classes, slept in class, and speculated in stocks.
Maybe it's like what @JiXuanYi described under the answer to Xu Zhiyuan's question, a kind of classical anger.
I think to a large extent, he's completely right in what he says, but I still kind of can't get over that kind of dissolution. He cites the dirty, miserable underbelly of Morrow's writing, the chaotic, hopeless city of Yu Jie's book, the cranky, ignorant masses in Xu Zhiyuan's eyes, the usurping capitalists on Kong Qingdong's blog, and argues that "these things," he says, "are the same as those that have been described by the Chinese government. And he thinks that "these things are destined to be just pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of this era. Enough to provoke anger, not enough to make people think."
But only in my shallow understanding, society at large does not need elitism, entertainment to death, information evaporation and what not, but there must be so many towers of idealism.
America is realistic enough, utilitarian enough, and consumerist enough, right? But when Jonathan Spence, Sr. sits in front of me, I'm on the Pacific Ocean, having breakfast with a statue of ancient Greece***, discussing contemporary China. And knowing that there are so many scholars at Yale, in the United States, who respect and adhere to classical idealism, that is not a "cute, fair-skinned boy pining for the glory and responsibility of the Qin-Han empire", is not the kind of person who deserves to be crushed by "development is the hard way", is not the kind of person who deserves to be crushed by "development is the hard way". "Jikang" crushed.
We have less, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have it.
We didn't fall into the cloud morning, doesn't mean we shouldn't remember the days on the cloud. That's what the Fudan promo could have meant by "higher than clouds", right?
I have never felt that a free and useless soul is the right temperament for a national treasure,
Fudan is a Shanghai university, and this is probably too Shanghai a university.
But I'm afraid China's universities are almost all like this, so there's not much to say, perhaps free and useless at least than the restrictive and utilitarian to be so good.
Exquisite useless people, positionless journalists are at least slightly more harmless than others.
Want to know Dan, I've really been wondering quite a bit about Fudan, and what it actually does.
People are free to do what they want to do, there are few arguments, there is not too much power struggle, every second away from politics and national justice, thinking about how to go to a better school, how to settle in the United States, how to get into a big company.
Some schools train mechanics, others train white collar workers.
E. Bitch Far Copy
Of course I got a lot of scholarships, honors, a chance to travel the world, and a first love, a wife, and a life-changing experience from this school.
I knew quite a few great teachers, some lifelong bibliophiles who have passed away, and some who still have the reputation of being philosophical princes.
During the final exam, I drew two pictures on the paper, turned in a blank, and the prince gave me an A.
Papers for most classes were five or six times as good as anyone else's, and had a cozy time.
Naturally, Fudan was pretty cozy.
We can certainly see what more kids, in more cases, are doing.
Cheating is harmless, high scores are king, papers are copied and copied, and teachers don't read them properly anyway.
Even the dean and vice president of a certain institution, each talked to me about the dark inner workings of the academic world, professors can't do academics properly, but they have to tear each other apart and fight for titles, that's how it works. And people know it.
The strength of a school is the teachers, the students, the community. Not something that acquires a few medical schools, buys a few lots, does real estate, builds a new building, makes a video, and rushes up the charts.
Bitch far copy.
Rockets go up into the sky, the higher you go the fewer arrows you have.
Tree roots grow into the ground, the deeper the tree the higher it gets.
So if the root is rotten, there are still a group of people around saying "do not come in to repair", there is really no way to feel.

By the way,
Anyways,
To my light, whose Wright is the bald one? What kind of Wright is Bald?
That said, in the future, if you do have the balls to do some weird and arrogant flicks, why don't you call me?

5.29 Additional comments:
I generally do not write public texts on social issues and hot topics, for one thing, I do not have the ability to do so, for another, I can not say it clearly, and for the third many I don't write public words on social issues and hot topics.
There are many people who write well. So I'm very cautious, and even hope that every sentence can reveal the attitude of "this is just my personal opinion and perception, do not give me a big hat".
The reason why I picked this answer is because when I cut the movie yesterday, a piece of music never fit well, and I was tired of being blown up by my circle of friends, and I saw that someone invited me to do so on Zhihuai, so I got carried away and said a few words.
1. about questioning
Seeing some skepticism in the comments, I understand, after all, my pillow said something similar.
She knows that the paragraph of my circle of friends did not refer to, let alone spray any specific personal behavior at all, but only for the latter criticism, academic corruption plagiarism is the trend. Callous at best, not exactly narrow-minded.
But as generous as she was, she still felt stabbed by the following paragraph.
"I have never felt that a free and useless soul is the temperament that a national treasure should have,
Fudan is a Shanghai university, which is largely a too Shanghai university.
But I'm afraid China's universities are almost all like this, so there's not much to say, perhaps free and useless at least than the restrictive and utilitarian to be so good.
Exquisite useless people and positionless journalists are at least slightly more harmless than others.
Some schools produce mechanics, others white-collar workers."
She said that even though she's seen this happen to too many of her classmates, even if she's experienced it herself at one time or another, it does change after you've been together for a long time, and you no longer want to be a mechanic, you don't want to be white-collar, you don't want to be an American, you just want to be yourself.
I miss her understanding, and I don't know if I have it in my bones that, as one of the comments said, "The respondent's coldness and disdain for her alma mater is embedded in dramatic love between the lines, and the shitty plagiarism is just the withered leaves, it's the rotting roots that are the crux of the problem."
I don't know if I have any love for my alma mater, all I know is how much I want all Chinese and world universities to be better and purer, because then we can meet more interesting and opinionated people and discuss more meaningful things. Following on from that, it's about wanting the world to be a better place, and that's probably my love for the world itself.
I don't care if other people, my good friends, my seniors go to clubs and visit prostitutes, I only care about the three acres of land in front of me, at least it can be clean and pure.

As for adding some links for no reason,
Because I was busy, I wrote some manic. When I was writing it, I thought I shouldn't add links, but then I thought it would be easier to go back to the information afterward, so I put it up anyway. Admittedly, I apologize for the impact on the reader's perception.
The first two links are to two questions about Xu Zhiyuan and Dream Whore, and others have answered quite a few of them at points I like.
The link to Floating Dreams was to show the attitude of taking college in high school, and the desire to go to college, and of course what Fudan gave me, not a washout, but grateful, nothing to do with Dong, scholarships, etc., and can be deleted.
The link to Zhihu Salt is an addition to the "reality and classical convenience" of the paragraph, and I'm afraid that some people can't understand it, thinking that I look down on Fudan and its alumni, and treating me as a bigoted dog, so I added it, and it can be deleted. And someone did interpret it in the way I foresaw.
The last video link is cute, after all, so bad childish debut, that is to say, tell everyone, it is difficult to make a film, they copied into such a film is not easy it, can not be deleted.
3.
The rocket is to fly to the sky, the higher the arrow the less, you are faster is useless.
The roots of a tree grow into the ground, and the deeper the tree, the higher it grows, and the slower you are, the better.
So if the root is rotten, there are still a group of people around saying "no come in to repair", really no way to feel.
Originally, "freedom is useless" is just something old professors say in private, quite a bit of self-deprecation and style;
The result was taken to the official level, vigorously publicized, and really makes people feel that the emotional quotient is questionable. It's as if they are afraid that people don't know that they are going to carve the words "hidden in the city" on the door.
