In the long history, the Yi people living in this ancient and magical land have made and manufactured extremely rich and colorful national costume culture by hand. Among them, Huayao (Niesu Branch) women's clothing style is unique.
Huayao Yi women's dresses are mainly red and black, with other colors such as green, blue and white. Its clothing is divided into headdress, long coat, short coat, belt, waist-binding, streamer, belly-wrapped, black trousers and embroidered shoes. Patterns commonly used are sun, moon, stars, fire, flowers, birds, fish, butterflies and other deformed patterns.
Embroidery is often used for sleeves, backswing, waistcoat, hem, back, headpiece and trousers hem. Complex structure, diverse patterns and decorations, exquisite embroidery skills and bright colors fully reflect the warm, optimistic and cheerful character of the flower-waist woman.
When making flowered waist women's dresses, firstly, folk paper-cutting artists cut the paper into dresses, then pasted the patterns on the cloth, embroidered along the patterns with colored silk thread, and finally stitched dozens of embroidery products with different formats and patterns together to form a set of exquisite flowered waist women's dresses.
Huayao clothing
The flower waist woman's headdress is made of red, black and green cloth. Generally, three pieces of cloth are spliced into a rectangular whole, embroidered with delicate flowers, and matched with two cloth belts embroidered with patterns and decorated with silver bubbles to form tassels. When wearing it, it is folded into a hat shape and tied with a belt, and the tassels at both ends of the belt hang down beside the ears.
Clothes are divided into two parts: long clothes and short clothes, and are equipped with accessories such as belts, waist flowers, streamers and Chinese-style chestnuts. The dress is made of dark blue or black cloth and sewn on a right lapel. The back lapel is long to the hind legs, the chest is short to the front waist, and the cuffs are embroidered with patterns. The front and back of the short coat are embroidered with longitudinal continuous flower decorative colored lace, covering the long coat.
When wearing, first hang Dou Du on the abdomen. After putting on a long skirt, fold up the long front and tie it tightly with a belt, so that the back hangs down. Then cover the short coat and tie the belt with streamers. Pants are wide waist and twisted crotch pants, and the fabrics are mostly black or navy blue. Pants are long to the calf, with light blue or green cloth at the hem and one or two wide edges.
The shoe has a black cloth as the bottom and a floral pattern embroidered on the upper. It takes three to five years to make a set of flowered waist women's clothes, and the value is as high as several thousand yuan.
Flower waist women's wear has been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai and other places, and has been well received by people from all walks of life. Among them, the costumes and paper-cutting skills made by the folk artists who rented the greenhouse village were unique, and they were named as Yunnan folk artists by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture.
