Wedding customs of Vietnamese women
In some barbarian tribes in northern Vietnam, there is a custom of "thanking" old lovers when they get married. Brides often have an old lover before marriage. If you are sure to get engaged to someone, you must break up with other lovers. According to the traditional custom, the bride doesn't stay in the groom's bridal chamber on her wedding night, but goes to see her old lover for the last night to show her gratitude.
The marriage customs of the Gong nationality in Vietnam are also very special. The most important feature of their marriage is to adopt a son-in-law before getting married. First of all, the man's parents, brothers, heads of families and the future groom go to the woman's house to propose marriage, bring a pack of salt, a pack of tea, a bundle of twine for weaving nets and a bottle of wine, and go to the woman's house at night.
They discussed their children's marriage while smoking and drinking. If the woman agrees, the time limit for the man to adopt his wife should be agreed first. It used to be 8 to 12 years, but now it is roughly shortened to 3 to 4 years.
It was agreed that the groom would take a quilt, a pillow and a knife to the adopted daughter's house the next day. The girl's hairstyle began to change, and her long hair was put on her head, indicating that she had a husband.
Although Shangmenlang was regarded as the son of the woman's family at the time of adoption, she was bound. You can't sit on a stool at home, wear shoes and slippers, or enter the room of your mother-in-law and sister-in-law. When parents-in-law are eating, people who come to the door can't sleep. He will pour tea for his parents-in-law after dinner, get up early in the morning to boil water for the whole family to cook, and cast a net to fish.
