What is the development trend of air freight in China? Urgent! !

the current situation of air freight in China: the singleness of service products and the limitation of service scope of various airlines have made airlines fail to show their own characteristics and advantages in the competition, which has caused freight forwarders to arbitrarily choose and lower prices among airlines

In recent years, with the further deepening of China's reform and opening up, especially after China formally joined the WTO, the national economy has entered a new round of rapid growth. Famous foreign multinational companies have also settled in China, making China a "world factory" and a "manufacturing center", which brings both opportunities and challenges to China's air cargo enterprises.

on the one hand, due to the increasing trade and economic activities at home and abroad, the volume of air cargo business is also showing a gratifying situation. Airlines pay more attention to air cargo, and their development strategy has changed from "light cargo and heavy passengers" to "both passenger and cargo". All airlines have increased their investment in freight capacity and infrastructure. The capacity of air freight has developed from mainly using the spare tonnage of passenger aircraft belly cabin in the past to vigorously introducing large all-cargo aircraft including Boeing 747 and putting it into the operation of domestic and international freight routes. In recent years, freight airlines specializing in air freight, express delivery and mail transportation have gradually emerged, and large-scale air freight centers have been built at international airports such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. On the other hand, for airlines, the situation of air freight is not optimistic. On international routes such as China and the United States, it is difficult for domestic airlines to make money, especially on return routes, because of the strong foreign competitors. However, foreign airlines such as UPS, FEDEX and Lufthansa keep pace with their freight revenue and business volume, and the annual profit growth rate in China freight market is over 2%.

An important reason for the great difference in competitiveness and income level between Chinese and foreign cargo airlines is that China airlines failed to adjust their marketing and business model in time according to the requirements of modern logistics for air cargo enterprises.

If the current freight business model of China Airlines is compared with that of 1 years ago, the changes in the business model of domestic aviation enterprises are not obvious. Perhaps the most prominent change in China's air freight is the addition of several brand-new large cargo planes beside the runway, which has won a lot of scenery for various companies. But in essence, the innovation of competition means, business model and profit model of airlines is still quite scarce. Domestic airlines don't see much difference in the services they can provide to their customers, and the means of competition among peers are mostly simple price wars. It's no wonder that shippers generally believe that the services of domestic airlines are similar, and it's the same to load the goods into which plane, which naturally causes shippers to choose which airline is cheaper and send the goods to which one. In order to expand market share, domestic aviation enterprises bargain with each other and fight price wars in the market. Freight forwarders just take advantage of the vicious competition between airlines to lower the price on both sides, and rely on airlines to control the freight price of airlines, and constantly ask airlines to give more discounts and promotion fees by using the goods in their hands, otherwise they will give the goods to other companies, which has formed a continuous decline in the freight revenue level of airlines, working hard for agents all day without making money. On the contrary, the days of freight forwarding are getting more and more prosperous, and in some cities, a very prosperous freight forwarding street has been formed. Although, in order to get rid of the control of freight forwarders on the supply of goods, many airlines have also come up with direct sales and other countermeasures, but due to various conditions, the proportion of direct sales has been small, and they still can't get rid of the dependence on agents.

It can be seen that the singleness of service products and the limitation of service scope of airlines make airlines fail to show their own characteristics and advantages in the competition, and thus freight forwarders can choose and bargain among airlines at will.

however, why can the income level of foreign freight airlines rise and not be easily pushed around by agents? If we analyze the operation modes of FEDEX and UPS, we will know that the business of FEDEX and UPS can be mainly divided into three parts: 1. Door-to-door air express. 2. Airport-to-airport air cargo transportation. 3. One-stop aviation logistics supply chain business services for large multinational companies. From this, we find that these so-called express delivery companies have completely penetrated into the general cargo transportation field of traditional airlines, and are no longer limited to the express delivery market of small items such as documents and parcels, and have already competed with traditional airlines in the air freight market. If domestic airlines want to survive, they must change their management concepts and study the service products and advanced business models of foreign airlines. In particular, their "one-stop" logistics service is a highly competitive high-end product and the most popular logistics product of large multinational companies in the world. At the same time, it has the characteristics of high service requirements, rapid value growth and the broadest market prospects.
