The representative works of Henan Opera include Chaoyanggou, Marriage of Little Erhei, Rushing to the Horse, Marriage of Bad Uncle, etc.

There are more than 1000 traditional plays of Henan Opera, a large part of which are based on historical novels and legends. Such as drama, Three Kingdoms, Wagang, Bao Gong, Yang Jiajiang, Yue Jia Jiang, and a large number of dramas describing marriage, love and ethics. Many modern dramas and new historical dramas describing real life have further developed the cause of Henan opera, such as Chaoyanggou, Little Black Marry, People Joke, Bad Uncle Marry and so on.

According to the statistics of 1956, there are 647 traditional plays. The most representative ones are Chasing Huan, Sanshangjiao, Cosmic Frontline, Ditangban, Ladder Mouth, My Beauty Case, Twelve Widows' Journey to the West, Spring and Autumn Match, etc. From 1949, we began to arrange and adapt traditional dramas, such as Matchmaker, Mulan, Mu Shuai, Golden Branch, San Xiao Hall, etc.

It is an extremely important school of Bangzi Opera, a traditional drama mainly popular in Henan Province and spread all over the country, and one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Henan Opera, one of the five major operas, is as famous as Beijing Opera and Yue Opera. After hundreds of years of inheritance, it has become an influential drama in Henan as early as the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.
