The customs and habits of Li nationality

The traditional dress of Li nationality has rich cultural connotations and obvious differences among dialects (especially women's dress), which used to be an important symbol to distinguish different blood groups and tribal groups in history. Men's traditional clothing is usually tied to the forehead or back of the head, with no collar, open chest and waist cloth (hanging). Some Mobil men's shirts are not much different from women's shirts. A few surviving elderly women in Harbin, Qiqi, Mobil and Li Run still retain the traditional tattoo custom.

The picture on the left shows me, my grandmother and the old ladies of Li nationality often wear straight-collared, collarless and buttonless double-breasted coats. In some places, head coats and skirts of different lengths are worn, and bones or silver pins are attached to the back of hair, and embroidered headscarves, earrings, collars and bracelets are worn. Old ladies and women of their generation have the custom of tattooing. It is said that because Japan invaded Hainan, parents were worried that their daughter would be taken away, so they tattooed her daughter. Since the founding of New China, there has been no custom of tattooing.
