Confucian temple

Qufu, the oriental holy city, is a famous city, famous for its hometown of Confucius (55 BC1-479 BC), a famous philosopher, educator and founder of Confucianism in ancient China. This city is also the birthplace of another great thinker and educator Mencius (372-289 BC). Therefore, Qufu is listed as one of the first historical and cultural cities in China.

Qufu is located in the southwest of Shandong Province, bordering Mount Tai in the north, with fertile land and rich products. This city is the settlement of ancient Oriental Yi people, and it is also an important site of Dawenkou culture and Longshan culture. Confucius was born in Nishan, 30 kilometers southeast of Qufu City. Accompanied by his disciples and followers, he spent many years teaching his thoughts in Qufu. One year after the death of Confucius, many believers flocked to Qufu to listen to the teachings of Confucius' disciples. Lu Aigong ordered the philosopher's home to be converted into a temple.

Qufu is famous for its long history, advanced culture, rich cultural relics and magnificent ancient buildings. There are more than 300 cultural relics protection units and 2 key cultural relics protection units11. Among them, Confucius Temple, Confucius Forest and Confucius House are the most famous, and they were listed as world cultural heritage by UNESCO on 1994.
