Difference between traditional ignition system and electronically controlled ignition system

Traditional ignition timing is controlled by mechanical control, vacuum control ignition advance angle; some ignition signals are controlled by platinum contacts, while others are controlled by Hall sensors or magneto sensors.

Because of this ignition system ignition time is not accurate, more faults, high maintenance rate, can not meet the requirements of modern cars. Instead of electronic ignition system, electronic ignition timing is controlled by the computer. After the computer receives the engine speed, load and other signals, the ignition unit control ignition time, and the distributor in the distributor is only used for the distributor ignition, or do not use the distributor at all, with an independent high-voltage coil direct ignition.

This ignition method not only eliminates the distributor, but also eliminates the high-voltage wire connected to the spark plug. The ignition coil is connected directly to the spark plugs, making for a stronger spark. @2019
