I plan to learn Beijing sculpture software, but I have two choices: relief and curved surface modeling. I want to learn one of them, but I don't know whether to do relief design or surface modeling.

Relief is mainly used for handicrafts, that is, flowers, birds, fish and insects. Curved surfaces are generally used for things that require small precision errors, such as automobile parts, mobile phone parts, watch parts and so on. The scanned surface can't be modified, it's not smooth, and it can't be drawn by itself. The relief part of the scan can be changed, and there is something wrong with it. Anyway, the application of Beijing carving software in relief is far more extensive than that of curved surface, because there are still more software for making curved surface, and Beijing carving is less used in this respect.
