The General Administration approved the Guangdong Broadcasting Station variety channel to adjust to 4K ultra-high-definition way to broadcast, the channel has become the first provincial television 4K ultra-high-definition channel.

The approval made it clear that, firstly, the channel name, content positioning, call sign, logo, transmission mode and coverage of Guangdong Variety Channel will remain unchanged, and the programs (including advertisements) broadcasted throughout the day should be 100% in line with the General Administration's technical standards on 4K UHD TV broadcasting, and the word "4K" will be marked in the upper right corner of the screen.

Secondly, the Guangdong Bureau shall strictly follow the requirements of the General Administration of China on the standardization and development of 4K UHD TV, strengthen supervision and inspection, and ensure the broadcast quality of the variety channel.

Third, the Guangdong Broadcasting Bureau shall increase its investment, effectively guarantee the programs, equipment and funding required for the Variety Channel after it adjusts to broadcast in 4K UHD, continuously improve the production capacity and broadcast quality of 4K UHD programs, and gradually increase the length of the daily first broadcast.

Fourth, the cable network agencies must take strong measures to accelerate the network digitization and bidirectional upgrading and 4K ultra-high-definition set-top box promotion and installation, and to do a good job of 4K ultra-high-definition channel publicity and promotion.
