An essay on the feelings of paper-cutting

Reflections on Learning Paper-cutting

Folk art is an important part of the splendid cultural treasure house of the motherland. Paper-cutting occupies a very prominent position in folk art, it is a brilliant flower of art, the crystallization of Chinese wisdom and precious remains.

In this semester's art class, I was deeply attracted by the art of paper cutting. At first, the art teacher asked us to practice with draft paper. At that time, we would only cut a simple "flower" and "double happiness". Although the style is simple, I feel quite fulfilled. Because before this, my hands-on ability was not strong, I would encounter many problems when cutting paper, such as: I don't know whether to cut it from the opening or from the sealing, I don't know how to draw it, and I don't know where the connection point is. But the teacher taught me hand in hand and patiently explained it to me, so I felt very happy when I cut out my work and unfolded it slowly. Not only that, the teacher also provided us with more complicated and exquisite paper-cut patterns, from cutting draft paper to cutting with various colored papers. After many practical attempts, I have been able to cut out many complicated and beautiful paper-cut patterns. In order to master the paper-cutting technology, I summed up some experiences myself:

1, copy more, cut more, and you will realize the doorway.

2. Find your favorite monochrome painting and add some connections.

Practice a subject repeatedly, practice makes perfect.

4. Beginners should practice intaglio first.

For example, first draw the shape of your favorite image, and then use the traditional paper-cutting language (dots, spindles, swallowtails, sawtooth patterns, etc. ) to cut out the pattern.

As for where to use negative engraving and where to use positive engraving in the creative process, it depends on personal understanding.

This paper-cutting, not only exercised my hands-on ability, but also influenced me by art and felt the charm of art. Paper-cutting is something that needs to be treated with a calm mind, and only when I devote myself wholeheartedly will I be happy.
