The top of the mountain is wide and flat, with Yang Shulin on the mountainside, and the narrow valley is like a warehouse. Its mid-levels are grassy slopes, and the mid-levels are Yang Shulin and shrubs, hence the name Bancaoling.
June Yellow Lantern Festival is held in Bancaoling from June 23rd to 24th every year. Historically, in order to pray for good weather and bumper harvests, people here have been planting young crops every March, and held Buddhist activities and Quyi activities in Bancaoling on June 23rd. The yellow festival in June got its name.
June, June 15 kicked off the yellow festival from the temple, which was locally called Kaiya. On this day, the temple gate was opened, a nearby venue was selected, the people's umbrella was erected (this umbrella has been preserved to this day), banners were inserted, and the people were promoted to the throne, and the people burned incense and offered sheep, and then performed the program. The content of this program is historical allusions, such as the battle between Zhao Jun and Fan, the battle between Lu Bu and the Three Kingdoms, and the learning of Tang Priest and laughing at monks. During the performance, the characters in the play put on masks, costumes and props, and then simply signed up for the performance. According to the story, it is similar to a ballet, but mixed with Xiao Xu Daobai and aria. Folk instrumental music-gongs, drums, cymbals, hairpin and suona are used to set off the Qin Dynasty, with various forms and unique performances.
The climax of the yellow festival in June is 23 or 42 days. The masses held up their gods to patrol the mountains. In front of Arihoshi, there were umbrellas and flags of all colors, followed by gongs, drums, suona and Qin Le, accompanied by hundreds of willing horses. The folk saying is: these horses will be blessed by God, so they will be bathed in clean water, smoked with cypress and tied with some yellow paper to show their gratitude.
