What does Confucius think is etiquette? What does this give you?
Zhou Li, Yi Li and The Book of Rites are also called the Three Rites.
"Yili" is generally considered to be compiled by Confucius, a compilation of etiquette activities in the Spring and Autumn Period of the Western Zhou Dynasty, and sorted out by Confucius from the etiquette of Zhou and Lu countries that are about to be lost.
Today, there are 17 articles: the ceremony of honoring the scholars, the ceremony of scaring the scholars, the ceremony of drinking, the ceremony of visiting the hometown, the ceremony of feasting, the ceremony of the bride, the ceremony of eating public food as a doctor, the ceremony of pilgrimage, the ceremony of mourning the scholars, the ceremony of funeral, the ceremony of feeding special animals, the ceremony of eating lightly, and the ceremony of the chef.
However, the formulation of ritual codes in later generations is mostly based on Yili. The etiquette of the wedding and funeral ceremony was also inherited by later generations, but the details changed slightly.
The enlightenment of Confucius' ceremony is essentially the moral embodiment of the legal system, or the moral legal system, which is between morality and the legal system.
It is difficult for ordinary people to do well; It seems too low for people above the average level to ask him only by the legal system, so etiquette appears to improve the quality of some people and prevent those who have the ability and integrity from "going from bad to worse", thus improving the overall atmosphere of society.
For example, in Zhou Li, the requirements for drinking are very strict, but there are three things. In ancient times, the alcohol content was very low and it was difficult to get drunk, which greatly reduced the immoral behavior after drinking.
Confucius' study of etiquette is also a good explanation. Self-cultivation ~ Keeping the house in order ~ Governing the country and leveling the world, learning etiquette should be part of self-cultivation, that is, the bottom line of being a man-for Confucius,
