What are the traditional dental implant procedures and methods?

Using the principles and methods of bionics, human beings have successfully developed artificial dental implants. After the missing permanent teeth are restored by dental implant technology, the appearance is realistic and beautiful, and patients feel comfortable. So some people say that artificial dental implants are the third pair of human teeth. Artificial dental implants are different from traditional dentures, and artificial roots need to be implanted in gums as anchorage. First, doctors implant artificial roots into the gums of missing teeth. When the root and gum grow firmly, a realistic porcelain tooth is attached to the root.

There are three schemes for the restoration of single tooth loss (tooth inlay):

1. Movable bridge: natural teeth on both sides are hung with hooks (snap rings). A little foreign body sensation, more troublesome, need to be picked and worn repeatedly, and the price is cheap.

2. Fixed bridge: both teeth (abutments) need to be polished and decorated. The teeth on both sides are crowns, which are connected together like a bridge, and the bridge in the middle is made into the shape of missing teeth. Its advantages are no foreign body sensation, no need to take it off, and the price ranges from 2-3 thousand to 7-8 thousand; However, its biggest disadvantage is that it damages adjacent teeth on both sides, even causes pulp necrosis and secondary caries of adjacent teeth, and its long-term success rate is low, so it is generally not recommended.

3. Dental implant: implant a pure titanium root (implant) with special surface treatment in the alveolar bone of the edentulous area. After 2-3 months, after the osseointegration is formed between the implant and the alveolar bone, the crown is made on the root of the tooth. The advantages of this method are comfort, no foreign body sensation, no need to take it off, no need to destroy the natural teeth on both sides, and so on. But its disadvantage is that the cost is relatively expensive, about 15000. If bone grafting is needed, it will be more expensive. However, because there is no need for double molars, supplemented by regular maintenance, its long-term success rate is very high, and it is a good long-term restoration method at present.
