What are the holidays in Australia?

1. January 26: National Day. Commemorates the anniversary of the founding of Australia by the whites, (in 1788, Captain Phillip declared Australia a British territory) but in some states, Monday and Friday, which are close to the weekend, are also observed as National Day holidays.

2. February 14: Valentine's Day. With the Chinese New Year followed closely by the Western festival of Valentine's Day, Sydney is undoubtedly a dreamy place to enjoy Valentine's Day. Imagine boarding a luxury catamaran from Sydney Harbour at dusk and experiencing a twilight cocktail cruise.

3. March 28-31: Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox in the Western church tradition. In the Eastern Church, if the full moon falls on a Sunday, Easter is postponed for another week.

4. April 25 is Australia-New Zealand Regiment Day, commemorating the decisive landing of the Allied Australian and New Zealand Forces on the Kalipori Peninsula in Turkey, which were seconded by the British in the First World War.

5. December 26: Boxing Day, the day to open the boxes given at Christmas, which, in South Australia, has become 'Proclamation Day'.
