The History and Present Situation of Chinese Characters
2- 1 century BC, Chinese characters appeared in the western regions. In 60 BC, the Han Dynasty established Duhu Prefecture in the Western Regions, and the Chinese language was also used and spread in the Western Regions. Since then, Chinese has become an essential official language for all countries in the Western Regions. In the Tang Dynasty, Chinese became not only the common language of local governments in the Western Regions, but also the language that people of all ethnic groups in the Western Regions consciously studied.
During the reign of Western Liao Dynasty, Chinese was further spread. In the Yuan Dynasty, learning Chinese law was advocated, and a bachelor's degree in Chinese language and writing was used, which produced many famous scholars who were proficient in Chinese language and writing. During the Ming Dynasty, Chinese continued to spread in the western regions.
After the Qing Dynasty unified the western regions, Manchu was used in official activities, while Chinese was mainly used. In the late Qing Dynasty, with the increasing number of Han people, Chinese and Chinese characters were gradually widely used in the western regions. As a result, Chinese language has gradually become the common language of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang.
For modern Chinese, standardized Chinese characters include two parts: sorted simplified characters and unsorted simplified characters. Simplified Chinese characters refer to the modern Chinese character specifications officially promulgated in the form of word list with the approval of the State Council or the competent department of the state. Uncompleted simplified characters refer to inherited characters handed down from history that have not been simplified or need to be simplified, such as people, mountains, Sichuan, Japan, water and fire.
