What is the difference between the position and function of the plot?

Plot is another basic element of the novel. Plot is usually essential for all narrative literature works. Comparatively speaking, the position and function of plot in different kinds and genres of works of art are different.

For example, although narrative poems have plots, they pay more attention to lyricism, so the plots are relatively simple; Narrative prose also has a plot, but it is often sandwiched between narration and discussion, so the plot does not need to be complete; Drama and film are inseparable from the plot, but due to the limitation of space and time, the plot setting must be relatively concentrated, and it is impossible to portray characters in the complicated plot. In contrast, the plots of traditional novels are complete, complex and diverse.
