From 65438 to 0955, the state decided to carry out a regional oil survey in the North China Plain. 1961April 16, well Hua 8 was drilled near Dongying Village, and Shengli Oilfield was discovered. On September 23rd, 1962, Dongying structure drilled into Ying 2 well with a daily output of 555 tons, which was the highest oil well in China at that time, hence the name "Shengli Oilfield". Shengli Oilfield is the general name of Shengli Petroleum Administration Bureau, Shengli Oilfield Company and Shengli Petroleum Engineering Company, including exploration and development, petroleum engineering, public works and mining services. The work area is mainly distributed in 28 counties (districts) of 8 cities including Dongying, Binzhou, Dezhou, Jinan, Weifang, Zibo, Liaocheng and Yantai, and 5 provinces and autonomous regions including Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. The development and operation of Shengli Petroleum Administration Bureau (the oil region management organization approved by the State Council and once under the Ministry of Petroleum Industry) and Shengli Oilfield are managed by Shengli Oilfield Branch of China Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
