Sagami River Carp Flag Festival at the Japanese Cultural Festival

Every year between April 29 and May 5, about 1,200 carp flags are flown in groups at the upper end of Takadanobashi Bridge in Sagami City. This event is held in conjunction with the Children's Day to pray for children to grow up to be the pillars of the nation. The carp flags flying in the sky during the festival are the hope of the people of Sagami and the whole country.
