Chengdu Food Guide

Chengdu is a city full of romantic and traditional elements and the best inheritor of Ba Shu culture. It is not without reason that it is called the Land of Heavenly Capital. The people of Chengdu are very particular about their lives, and it is only when they are materially wealthy that they can be courteous and entertaining, which breeds a rich cultural life. Chengdu's geographic location and four distinct seasons make it ideal for traveling.

Pre-trip preparation

1, ID card, passport (for going abroad), driver's license (self-driving need). If you live in a room for two people, you need two people's ID cards. Take high-speed rail, airplanes, attractions, etc. need ID cards. At the same time. When you travel, you must take them with you.

Runhua Stream Park

"Two orioles in the green willow, a line of egrets on the blue sky. We are all familiar with the story of Du Fu's "Extraordinary Verse" which has been recited for ages. The poem is about Raccoon Flower Stream, so he followed the footsteps of the great poet Du Fu to Raccoon Flower Stream Park. When I arrived, it began to rain heavily. I took shelter under a pavilion and watched the ripples of rainwater on the lake, bringing a coolness to this hot summer day. I didn't feel down without an umbrella, but rather felt somewhat poetic.

Walking around Rumkesha Park with a DSLR, it is not as noisy as the Broad and Narrow Alley, but more leisurely here. The poems everywhere add a lot of poetry to this park, coupled with this lush forest, a classical atmosphere out of touch with the modern world. At this moment, a lilac girl intrudes into the picture and raises her DSLR to freeze the moment, which then even appears in other scenes. Thanks to this girl, the whole picture becomes more spiritual.

"Life is a great man, death is a ghost hero", "I think of heaven and earth, no end, no end, lonely lonely tears fall", "thousands of households in peace, the world's poor people happy". Unlike normal parks, the biggest attraction here is the poetry, so I admired one inscription after another, saw some familiar verses, and always thought it would be cool to read poetry, especially after reading 0755-.

Streams, bamboo forests, pavilions, bridges and cobblestones are the truest portrayal of Runnion Stream Park, whereas more people can feel the slow-paced life of Chengdu people, either as families, individuals, or in groups of three or five, chatting, strolling, and loitering. The most comfortable side of Chengdu is fully reflected here. Runnoflower Stream Park is also the largest and most invested open urban forest park in Chengdu to date. It is said to be rated as the only five-star park in Chengdu. It is indeed a very elegant place.

Shongde Li

Small and hidden in the wild, big and hidden in the city, one step away from the bustling Taikouli Street is the quiet Shongde Li in the old courtyard. There are a few uneventful surprises in the alleys. The phrase "A city's way home" on the wall caught my attention. It is simple but powerful. The old streets of Chengdu, where life is now leisurely and slow, are a small place that can still be touched. This is the power of the simplicity of Zonta Power.

"Chongde Li starts from Zhongdong Street in the north and connects to Hongshizhu Street in the south. It was originally an unnamed alley." This is a small alley along the Jinjiang River. 1925, a businessman named Wang Chongde built this place, "Li" means "Li Nong", more or less the flavor of Jiangnan. After years of polishing, this place has become a "ruin", which looks out of place in the modern high-rise buildings. However, a designer has given the place a new lease of life, turning the ruins into a beautiful landscape, basically without major changes, but rather building on the original foundation, preserving the original beauty of the historic building.

"It is better to eat without meat than to live without bamboo". Bamboo is very common in Chengdu and represents the noble living sentiment of the ancients. Life under the bamboo is more elegant and transcendent, and the blue sky and white clouds against the glass are also completely simple and pure. Here are a few more simple lines. Discover it with your heart and you will reap the beauty of ordinary simplicity.

There's also a red showroom next to Zonta Lane, with art paintings of some of the characters. The spatial layout is also clever, so that one can't see what's going on here, but can y feel the atmosphere of mysterious art.

Next to the exhibition hall, it seems to be a restaurant. The red pillars and round arches are unique. My intuition tells me that this should be a product of Chengdu - the internet celebrities are at it again. A lot of beautiful women were carved here while strolling around, which really gave a unique and bright feeling.

West Village Compound

Saw the first picture below online and decided to come. At the same time, he also has a nice name: Xicun compound, high-rise buildings in Chengdu, such a large area with a wide view, feel amazing. What's even more amazing is that at the beginning of its construction, it was considered a rotten building by the residents around it, and now it has become one of the new landmarks in Chengdu. Countless people hit it on weekends and holidays.

There are no doors. Instead, several interlocking staircases are used to build the "gate". The long dark gray columns and intersecting art are unique at first glance. The wide stadium can be seen through the barbed wire fence. The Chinese Poetry Conference was also photographed here. It reminds one of college days. Sitting on the playground at night with three or five friends, buying snacks and beer, talking all night. There is no way back anymore.

On a weekday afternoon, it's extraordinarily quiet. The ballpark is deserted. Occasionally you see a stroller or two on the track, climbing the concrete stairs to the roof overlooking the entire West Village courtyard. It really does feel like a quad. The walking paths are also "airy", with patios, canals, views and bamboo forests. The Xicun courtyard is still far from Chunxi Road, but only because it is far away from the bustle and noise.

The designer behind Xicun is not simple either. International architect Liu Jiakun is responsible for the architectural planning and design, which is very different from the same cultural and creative park. Only 40 acres of atrium, simple and atmospheric, incorporating many of Chengdu's unique culture. The glitz and glamor may catch your eye, but such understated and calm details are memorable. The surrounding floors also have many specialty stores that add to the color of the place. The sky over the compound is right on the flight path, and from time to time one can see airplanes soaring in the sky. At this point, one can't help but imagine that God's perspective from an airplane might be even more stunning.

People's Park

In a month or so, at the end of October, you can see chrysanthemums in full bloom in People's Park. This group was taken last year, and I haven't had time to retouch the pictures yet. When I look at last year's photos now, my memory goes back to last November, when People's Park was very busy. The chrysanthemums were blooming so brightly then, showing off their beauty like young girls.

To experience the daily life of Chengdu people, you have to come to People's Park. Although many people think it's boring when they hear about the park, Chengdu People's Park has a very strong sense of life. What surprised me more is that so many young people come here to drink tea. Chengdu Gai Bowl Tea is a symbol of Chengdu culture. There are several teahouses in People's Park, almost all of them are full of people, more than half of them are young people. The scene is really spectacular.

It is true that Chengdu people will enjoy life. It is said that the sound of mahjong can be heard on airplanes. In People's Park, people drink tea on the shore, walk on the shore and row boats in the water. Pigboat boats in various colors of autumn red leaves are beautiful and intoxicating. Maybe this is the Bashful life of Chengdu people.

The teahouses here have never seen an electric kettle. They are basically old copper teapots, primitive bamboo chairs and low tables, preserving the most primitive leisure life in Chengdu. Some people enjoy a half-hour ear-pulling, and there is a dating corner in the park. I heard from a friend that he once accidentally entered the dating corner and was questioned by a group of amazons. Noisy and full of life, they hide in all corners of People's Park, and they know the city.

Chengdu food

Chengdu is famous for its weather. In Chengdu, you can find food stores in every street. And then Chengdu people are very particular about food. As long as it's a bit hard to eat, they won't come back next time. So on the recommendation of the locals, I also tried these food stores and the taste is really good. Here to share with you.

One, Yu Ji Thai seafood hot pot (Taikoo Li store)

This is probably the hottest store in Taikoo Li. It starts with a 2 hour line until you question your life. Luckily the store is in Taikoo Li, so I took a number and went to the mall to browse around. came back in about 2 hours with a little wait. The waiting area is quite user friendly with drinks, snacks and big fans. The store has three floors that are full and the environment is very nice. The Southeast Asian décor is high-end and elegant, with soft lighting and lots of green tones that look very fresh and eye-catching.

Four people ordered a set menu, a seafood and vegetable platter. The signature Tom Yum Goong hot pot soup base with fresh coconut milk was recommended. The flavor was rich and mellow with a mild aroma. I couldn't resist a big bowl of it and felt it was worth the two-hour wait. The fresh shrimp waiter will not only shabu-shabu you, but will also peel and line your shrimp. The service was attentive and so was the crab. While we were wondering what to do with it, the waiter was already doing it with a smile.

Then I ordered some large abalone, literally the size of my hand. It still moved after a squeeze of lemon juice and then I took it to be processed. I can't believe I can get such fresh big abalone in landlocked Chengdu, thumbs up for my coastal city. The shrimp curry is also a must order. The curry from Thailand was very appetizing and made the shrimp more flavorful. The copious amount of coconut was very rich with all kinds of ingredients and it felt like I was back in the tropics.

The service was impeccable. We basically didn't have to do anything. It's all scalded and cooked for you, fished out and plated, except for feeding it to you by hand. Oh yeah, the waiter's brother was quite handsome and clean looking. Women must be nymphomaniacs.

In addition, there are rabbit pudding, plum jelly, cookies, yogurt and so on. All of them are free and unlimited, and ordering a set meal will also give you a variety of snacks. Four big men finally all full, each person about 200 yuan, but eat so much rich and delicious seafood really worth it.

Two, Chengdu Chik (Zhimin Road store)

If you want to eat Chengdu's local specialties, then this can not be missed. I went to a review site's annual must-eat list. When you come, you really have to queue up, take a number and wait in the public **** area. Luckily I came early and it was our turn in about half an hour. The store is on the second floor, with a lot of space, gold is the main color, and the atmosphere is very cozy. The wall also has some pictures of the Nine Eyes Bridge and other local elements, which is very appropriate for an out-of-town traveler.

WeChat can scan the code to place an order, very convenient. Dishes and prices are clear at a glance and categorized clearly. I ordered a few classic dishes, and although it was crowded, the speed of serving was not bad. Fresh abalone, noodles and abalone were baked in a paper dough. The abalone was big and full of flavor. It was a popular dish and we grabbed it and finished it as soon as we opened it. Love frog, a little spicy but still new in appearance. The frog meat was chopped and crunchy to eat.

One of the specialties, the grilled fish fillet, was a bit pricey, but the fish was not spiny. There was a lot of red pepper, but the spiciness was just right. I can handle not too spicy and delicious. Oh yeah, I also get the pickled cabbage vermicelli and tofu soup, and the soup made from fish bones is also my favorite. The tofu shrimp is also a must order. This dish must be eaten while it's hot. The shrimp shells and threads are handled with care. The shrimp is Q fried and spicy and fragrant.

Both the Nestle Paw Paw and the Old Chengdu Candy are full of creativity. One is shaped like a bird's nest and the other is shaped like a tree. Paw Paw has always been my favorite. It's crunchy and chewy to eat. Sugar-oiled fruits are also a Chengdu specialty, sweet and sweet. Because it was so creative, I kept thinking it was a decoration and ignored the dish.

The fish-scented battered tofu, a Sichuan and Chongqing specialty, was tender and tasty with batter inside the tofu; the matsutake seafood congee and the specialty roasted eggplant were quite strong in flavor. Overall, the dishes are authentic in flavor, creative in appearance, served quickly, and have a good local reputation.

3. Roadside Spicy Hot Pot (Zhimin Road Branch)

Besides hot pot, Chengdu also has skewers. As the name suggests, the food is put on bamboo sticks and then cooked in a pot. It is very much a local specialty. The first time I ate it, I was very impressed. It turns out I can still eat like this. My friend said that Zhimin Road Roadside is old-fashioned and the queue often starts at 2 hours, so we chose to come at 10pm. Sure enough there was no line, but it was still packed.

Owner nostalgia, you can see a lot of old Chengdu elements. The previous skewers were just down the road, and a few people ate them with gusto. Friends have said that this store reminds him of the old days, as if still a child, really have the feeling of youth. The mural on the wall is also very beautiful.

Skewers can be described as a mini version of hot pot, more grounded. You can take as much food as you want from the refrigerator and eat whatever you want. At the end of the day, depending on the number of bamboo sticks, it's only a few cents. It was quite a novelty to eat food like this for the first time. The sauce is made of dried sea peppers and crushed peanuts and is very flavorful.

Of course there are also private dishes such as tripe, brain flower, ice powder and crispy pork. The prices are also beautiful, cheaper than the big hot pot restaurants, and there are lots of Chengdu specialty snacks. The waiter's serving speed is also quite fast, good service, and will give you a lot of advice when ordering. Back in Shantou, I found that a roadside restaurant was also opened in my hometown, which shows how famous he is. Later went to eat once, found that the taste and Chengdu is far from it, it is recommended to eat locally in Chengdu. The original feeling is really different.

Four. Fish - fish - fried pebble fish hot pot (Zhimin Road store)

Because I prefer to eat fish, such as stone pot fish, and very enthusiastic. My friend brought me to this restaurant. It was raining heavily when I came and it was early, so there were not many people. The decoration of the store is very old and retro, with the flavor of old Chengdu. The tables and chairs are made of wood, the walls are bare brick walls, and there are fish nets on the table. The decoration is very unique.

To the left of the door there is a big fish tank with many kinds of fish. The most important thing about a fish store is to keep the fish fresh. This store obviously does that. All the fish are freshly slaughtered, not frozen. The kitchen is also airy and visible, and it looks like it's pretty confident about hygiene.

There are three kinds of pots at the bottom: classic red pot, traditional pickled vegetable pot, and lemon and ginger pot. All are priced at 38 yuan. We chose the first one. For the fish, I personally chose the spineless jiangtuan and the red sand. The Triangle Peak is also classic. You can order according to your preference. Each pot also has recommended fish species. It's okay to follow the recommendations. Simple and rough. The fish was really fresh and delicious. I was born in a coastal city and I don't even know how to compliment it.

This restaurant is really inexpensive. 5 dollar stacks are everywhere, and the side dishes are exquisite and small. We ordered sides like crispy pork, radish, river shrimp, steamed orange buns, and black rice bazan with sauces prepared by the merchant, and a pot of soup. It was delicious and we finished it quickly. Oh, and his soda was so good. After drinking a big bottle, he got drunk

The service is also on point, basically responding to requests, the waiter is very enthusiastic, as if scanning the code to send drinks. It's an affordable and tasty store.

5. Red Hot Skewers (Oak Forest Store)

The first time is not too familiar, but a little hard to find. Remember the store is on the first floor, so it's easy to find. After all, the store is huge, and the side entrance allows you to see two large grill tanks. Skewered meat skewers are all hanging in bunches on the tank arms, neatly arranged. It feels like it should be a nice advanced black technology. Basically, you can't see the smoke, but you can smell the grilled flavor from afar. The skewers are evenly heated 360 degrees with no dead spots.

The store is quite large, a little early to come a little people are full. It looks like business is good, and the overall environment is spacious and bright. The original eating lamb kebabs can be so elegant, very suitable for couples to eat.

Baked here and served on the table. You don't have to grill it yourself. You need to master the fire yourself, and it's hard to tell if it's cooked or not, so there are often all sorts of complications. Personally, I prefer someone else to grill it and then eat it straight away. The dipping sauce here is chili noodles, crushed peanuts, and sesame seeds. The lamb kebabs grilled with the dipping sauce tasted great.

Covered shredded potatoes are also particularly creative, making the shape of imaging noodles, sweet and sour. Pickled chicken claws, gazpacho, bottled gazpacho is also very appetizing. Then ordered a variety of barbecue, lamb kebabs, lamb chops, finger chops, fresh meat, small dumplings, black pepper tripe strips, black pepper veal steak. I have to say that the amount is really sufficient, the color is golden, the taste is tender, and the pleasure of eating meat is reflected in this store.

It's also worth mentioning the roasted bullfrog, a very large one, tender on the outside and flavorful on the inside. We kept praising it. Oh yeah, his beer is also worth trying. It's said to be imported from France, but I didn't order it that day. I'll try it next time I get a chance.

6. Oyster Hero Oyster Buffet (Taikoo Li Flagship Store)

I've had a lot of buffet roasts. The first time I had an oyster buffet was in the inland city of Chengdu. Oyster Hero is on the right side of the second floor, with many red lanterns hanging at the entrance. It looks very festive. It was already 10pm when I came here, but it was basically full. I suggest you come early because it closes at 12, so you can eat longer.

Inside is industrial decoration style, the overall color is mainly light tone, so it looks like a lighter mood. Oysters, scallops and shrimp are really just for the taking, in big pots, without blinking an eye. Although the size is not big, but it is quite fresh to eat. Brush them with garlic sauce, put them on the stove for a while, and they're ready to eat. Be careful not to grill them too long. There are boiled oysters, but some are too hard to cook. It is recommended that the store can be equipped with oyster cooking equipment or something.

Besides seafood, there are also various kinds of pancetta, duck intestines, and beef with sauerkraut. They have a wide variety. There are also seafood congee and soup dumplings if you want to eat ice powder, as well as a variety of vegetables, desserts, and fruits. You can help yourself without limit.

Near Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road, the store is convenient for shopping and the service is excellent. I was quite impressed by one detail. around 11:30, when the store was ready to close, the waiter came over and asked if he needed to get some more food. If he didn't have it, they would take it away. Didn't end up getting it, but thanked them anyway. All in all, it was a very good store for the price.
