What is bim

BuildingInformationModeling (BIM) is a process that unifies and coordinates all phases of planning, design, construction, and management, and is the operational software that converts the idea of using standards into appropriate data.

Ideally, the BIM process utilizes centralized digital 3D modeling as the core resource. Each building participant plans the data model while also allowing others permissions and data modifications. At this stage, the BIM model consists of detailed BIM units such as doors, walls, and equipment.

BIM images may seem like simple 3D CAD files, but in fact BIM components are more complex in the application and provide better operational flexibility. When creating a single component, each BIM component acts as a single unique element within the building form, and when loaded into the project model, allows the user to see how that component and other elements are constructed in relation to each other; for example, loading a revolving door from Dorma into a single-measurement model.

If a modeled object is more open than the original structure, exceeds or violates its constraints, a message will pop up.

BIM modeling will greatly improve efficiency, meaning it can prevent potential conflicts that can occur during the planning phase of a building project.

The BIM system allows architects and designers to quickly and easily understand and implement the features of door controls, automation, and other Doma products.

When the modeling is complete, it can also ultimately provide the information needed by the owner or maintenance staff, as all products will be clearly identified and service needs described.
