Four beautiful words of zongzi
Zongzi is one of the traditional festival foods of the Han nationality in China, which existed as early as the Spring and Autumn Period. At first, it was a tribute to ancestors and gods. Later, it was usually eaten on the Dragon Boat Festival every year, mainly in memory of Qu Yuan.
Zongzi can be divided into sweet zongzi and salty zongzi according to different tastes. The stuffing of sweet zongzi is generally red dates, mung beans, bean paste, eight-treasure beans and so on. The stuffing of salty zongzi is generally a mixture of pork, peanuts, mung beans, sesame and other materials.
Generally, glutinous rice or purple rice is used to wrap zongzi. Whether it is glutinous rice or purple rice, it is recommended to soak it in clear water for about 3-4 hours before wrapping it. After soaking, it can not only reduce the rice leakage when wrapping zongzi, but also make zongzi easier to cook and taste softer and glutinous.
