Detailed explanation of tea picking method

Tea picking method

Tea picking is generally divided into manual tea picking and mechanical tea picking.

1, grab the tea

Manual tea picking is a traditional way of tea picking, which can be divided into pinch tea picking, handle tea picking and two-handed tea picking. Handle tea picking is the standard way of tea picking.

Hand-picked tea needs to be picked with handles and different flowers. This picking method can keep the bud leaves intact, fresh and uniform, and does not contain scales, fish leaves, tea fruits and old branches and leaves. It is not suitable for picking, grabbing or pinching. Hand-picked tea is standardized and easy to master, but it is labor-intensive and expensive, so it is difficult to pick it in time.

2, mechanical tea picking

Mechanical tea picking, mostly using double lifting reciprocating cutting tea picking machine for tea picking. If the operation is skilled and the management is proper, mechanical tea picking will not have much influence on the growth and development of tea trees, the yield and quality of tea, and it can reduce labor and production costs.

Tea picking standard

The standard of tea picking is mainly determined by the tenderness and quality requirements of tea for new shoots and the yield factors. It can be roughly divided into:

1, thin and tender

Tea collected according to tender picking standards is mainly used to make high-grade famous teas, such as West Lake Longjing, Dongting Biluochun, Junshan Yinzhen, Huangshan Mao Feng and Lushan Wu Yun. The tenderness of fresh leaves is very high. Generally, tea buds are picked, one bud and one leaf, and new buds have two leaves.

2. Moderate mining

Moderately picked and standard picked tea leaves are mainly used to make bulk tea, such as eyebrow tea, pearl tea, kung fu black tea, red broken tea and so on. The tenderness of fresh leaves should be moderate. Generally, one bud and two leaves are the main ones, and one bud, three leaves and tender leaves are also collected.

3. Mature mining

Standard cut mature tea leaves are mainly used to make edge-selling tea. The standard of picking raw materials is that when the new shoots stop growing and the lower part is basically mature, four or five pieces of a bud are picked in pairs.

4. Special excavation

Special picking standard tea is mainly used to make some traditional special tea. Such as oolong tea, the picking standard is to pick three or four leaves when the new shoots grow until the terminal buds stop growing and the terminal leaves are not "open", commonly known as open-faced picking or three-leaf and half-picking.
