What is the center of empirical school?

The empirical school is centered on pragmatism and positivism. The empirical school mainly refers to the traditional school represented by American scholars, which occupies the mainstream position in communication science. They mostly study from the perspective of behaviorism, and pay attention to empirical materials and empirical investigations in their research. Therefore, some scholars in western Europe who call themselves empirical school think that the research of American empirical school is based on the position of administrative authorities, so it is also called administrative school.

The characteristic of empirical school research is that it does not care whether the current social system is reasonable, but maintains and perfects the existing social system and its functions. They regard society as an organic organism that can adjust and balance itself. The positivist school insists on the position of empirical research in method, the purpose of pragmatic research in direction and the pluralistic social view in guiding ideology.
