Early development of Bagua in North and South City

Mr. Liang Zhenpu and Baguazhang
Liang Zhenpu was known as Liang Quick Legs, and was also known as Braid Liang, because when he practiced Baguazhang, he could straighten his braids in the air. Born in 1863, Mr. Liang Zhenpu originally practiced leg flick and then went to Beijing to do business. At the age of 14, he studied Baguazhang with Mr. Dong Haichuan as his teacher, and was Mr. Dong's youngest disciple. Mr. Liang Zhenpu was smart and lively, polite to others, very respectful to his teachers and brothers, very serious in his practice, willing to work hard, and very perceptive, he could learn by example, and was much cherished by Mr. Cao. Dong Haichuan was nearly eighty years old, and he was very happy to see such a good student with both virtue and talent, but he was very strict in his demands, and he passed on his life's experience and martial arts skills to Mr. Liang Zhenpu. Mr. Liang Zhen Pu also often went to Yin Fu, Cheng Ting Hua, Shi Ji Dong and other senior brothers to study, and showed the martial arts learned from the brothers to the teacher, and the teacher then instructed him, so that Mr. Liang Zhen Pu quickly comprehend the Baguazhang techniques he had learned. The senior brothers also loved this little brother, and because of this, after the death of Lord Dong, Mr. Liang Zhenpu became closer to his brothers, such as Mr. Cheng Tinghua, Mr. Yin Fu, Mr. Liu Dekuan, Mr. Li Cunyi, etc., and the brothers also gave Liang Zhenpu a lot of instruction in martial arts, which was a great help to Liang Zhenpu's improvement in his martial arts. Mr. Leung Chun Po verified his own kung fu by sparring with his elder brothers. Mr. Leung Chun Po inherited the kung fu of Mr. Dong Gong, but also possessed the characteristics of his elder brothers, so he became a famous Baguazhang practitioner with outstanding kung fu. Because of this, Mr. Liang Zhenpu was able to defeat the "Four Heavens" of Hebei Jixian County, and in 1899, he killed dozens of people such as Zhao Liu, a gold standard, at Majiapu, outside Yongdingmen, Beijing. He was sentenced to death row by the Xing Ministry of the Qing Dynasty due to a lawsuit, but was reprieved due to the help of his disciple, Li Tongtai, and his brother, Cheng Tinghua, etc. The case had a great impact on the Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu rural area. The case was so influential that no one in Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan knew about it, and Liang Zhenpu's reputation was also greatly shaken. 1990, the Eight-Power Allied Forces attacked Beijing, Empress Dowager Cixi fled westward from the capital, and the court was in chaos, and the prisoners blew up the prisons, and Liang Zhenpu escaped from the prison. At the same time, the 52-year-old gossip palm master Mr. Cheng Tinghua in the fight against the Eight-Power Allied Forces was shot by the German army, so that the gossip door in a star of the world fell.
The Formation and Development of Liang Style Baguazhang
Mr. Liang Zhenpu fled back to his hometown of Jixian, Hebei Province, where he was known for killing the villainous Golden Label Zhao Liu and defeating the "Four Dewy Days" in Jixian County in 1899 and returned to Jixian County to teach Baguazhang as a career. Afterwards, he opened two dart boards, Kuiying and Desheng, specializing in the routes of Dezhou and Baoding, and later served as a martial arts teacher in the 14th Middle School of Hebei Province and the Xinji Shulu Girls' Normal High School, making a great contribution to the promotion and popularization of Baguazhang. Mr. Liang Zhenpu passed away in 1993, and is now buried on the right side of Dong Haichuan's tomb in Wanan Cemetery, Xiangshan, Beijing.
The successors of Mr. Liang Zhenpu include Li Tongtai, Li Shaoan, Guo Gumin, Li Ziming, Tian Jinfeng and Fu Zhenlun. Li Tongtai died early and Tian Jinfeng's whereabouts are unknown. The greatest contribution to the development of Liang style bagua palm for Guo Gu Min and Li Zi Ming two brothers.
Born in 1887, Mr. Guo Gumin was an unmarried man who taught Baguazhang as his profession. He was one of the most important successors of Liang Zhenpu, and was an important figure in the third generation of Baguazhang masters. Mr. Guo Guomin's profound strength and martial virtues were well known in the capital. In addition to learning Baguazhang from Mr. Liang Zhenpu, Mr. Guo Gumin also had close contact with many of his brothers and uncles and other Baguazhang masters, and was often instructed by Yin Fu, Liu Dekuan, Li Cunyi, Han Fushun, Liu Fengchun, and Gu Buyun, etc. Mr. Guo Gumin was one of the most important Baguazhang masters of the third generation. Older brothers of the same Shou Zi generation, such as Men Baozhen and Zeng Shengsan in the Yin style, Cheng Youlong and Cheng Youxin in the Programming style, and Li Shaoan and Li Ziming in the same style, had a close relationship and often practiced Baguazhang skills together. Mr. Guo Gumin wrote the "Bagua Palm Integration" and "Guo Style Kam Pouch", and because of his close relationship with Yuhui, he was able to obtain Dong Haichuan's secret Bagua Palm "Thirty-six Songs and Forty-eight Methods". Mr. Guo set up a school in Beijing and Lu, and this is his business, which has a great influence. The older members of the fourth generation of Beijing Bagua Palm practitioners often came to Guo Guomin to learn the art, and were called Guo Shi Shu Shu or Guo San Shi. Mr. Guo taught hundreds of students and later became a martial arts teacher at Beijing Normal University. The Seven Star Pole, the Sixty-four Styles of Bagua, the Yin-Yang Sharpness of the Meridian Chicken Claw, and the Hook and Sickle Sword, which have been passed down from branch to branch in Beijing, were all passed down from Mr. Guo. Mr. Guo Gumin has been the founder of the Beijing Baguazhang style and has played an active role in promoting the development of Baguazhang by fusing the various styles together. At present, there are dozens of disciples of Mr. Guo Gumin, such as Zhuge Jiabao, Li Changxing, Li Lianxing, etc., who are already in their 70s and 80s, and hundreds of disciples and grandchildren in Beijing, Hebei, Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, Hubei, etc. Mr. Guo Gumin has made great efforts to develop the Bagua Palm. Mr. Guo Gumin devoted himself to the development of Baguazhang and passed away in 1968, and is now buried in Beijing Wan'an Cemetery to the left of Mr. Liang Zhenpu's tomb. Mr. Guo Gumin is now buried on the left side of Mr. Liang Zhenpu's tomb in Wanan Cemetery in Beijing.
